Otterman's Gothic Components

Wow, that's going to take awhile for me to digest, much less create.

I anticipate very few architectural components will be bronzed; plastic 3D will have to suffice.

I also anticipate few of them will become white metal, leaving resin as the defacto material.

I don't mind what it's made from...

Is it cool?
Can I stick it on something to change the something to cool looking?
When I paint it will it be cool enough to hide how rubbish my painting is?

These are a few of the questions I ask myself when I think of buying bits. I have been impressed with Ottermans items so far, enough to know that I would very much like what will (hopefully, fingers crossed) be designed here.

I did say I was only halfway with my thinking...

A simple window designed from my paper model of the Dresdner Frauenkirche.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not too concerned with what they're made of.

This question almost answers itself, but I wanted input. Note the attached image of 2 large ogival shaped windows. Except for a .5mm backing, they are identical.

I was contemplating if I should have the backing printed or not.

Pros:
Add structural strength to delicate panes
Creates a nice 'plug-in' rectangular shape for building larger wall panels
Easier to cast

Cons:
Windows no longer see-through
Slightly more expensive to print due to added volume
Harder to cast

Other things worthy of consideration:

Malakai had the brilliant idea to create 3D versions of the card buildings from Space Marine.

I wondered if I could send my parts to Grandt Line so they could make plastic versions of the components.

See: http://www.grandtline.com/archite....ows.htm

Edit - Damn, I need to buy some of those things.

I'm more fond of the one without a back since it makes it easier to cast and because aback can be easily added later.

Thanks for the props Otter!  :D

Yeah I think people still love those old Space Marine/Titan Legions era buildings. I still have a few left for sentimental purposes.

I don't think there have been any buildings made since to capture the "feel" of Epic quite the way they did.

If they had all of those lovely windows, window ledges, arches, and maybe a balcony or two you could put me down for a dozen!  :)

That would be brilliant I think. The old roofs look nice, so some updated walls in various heights would be cool I think

Now that is a brilliant idea. I've loads of the plastic rooftops but I just can't bring myself to use the card walls.
More detailed walls for the plasic tops would be excellent.

Cheers,
Steve.

I don't mind using the card Space Marine buildings, but if more detailed replacement walls were to become available I'd probably switch over.

If said walls were available, it would also be much easier to make better looking matching ruined versions of the SM buildings.
