BFG is often cited as one of the more balanced GW games when it comes to choosing sides, especially when it comes to the blue book fleets. So why has the Imperial Navy first wiped the floor with the Orks in the Armgeddon 3 campaign and now basically held together the Allied forces in the EoT campaign? Is the list broken in some way people just don't see, do better players go Imperial, is the Navy just plain lucky or is the Emperor really watching over the few?

A concept I hold near and dear to my heart.

Thats why we sailors have so many traditions and superstitions ! :;):

Or because the imperialplayers cheat more than chaos ones. That is an opther option, mind you. As an example, vanilla marines did a GREAT job at beating chaos in the EOT campaign and the chaos book is simply so much better than the vanilla marines one that it can't be believed. If we went for the results submittred the vanilla marines need to be DOWNGRADED, not upgraded as most marine players think it is the way they should go.

There you go. My personal opinion. Cheaters happen to be in both sides, but imperials maybe have cheated more. Sad as it is the current campaign system GW i using more or less encourages that kind of action and refuses to allow stuff like well coordinated fluff issues to make a real impact there while you can travel a distance of 9 sectors in the blink of an eye. Astonishing. *Pukes*

So, to me it is not a rule issue but a player integrity one.

Regards,

Xavi

That of course is another option. Though I think the BFG Imperial players far outstripped even the best of their ground based brethren, even taking into account that EoT was loss because of stategic reasons not pure wins. I'd be surprised if BFG player were a lot more inclined to cheat than 40K players, especially as BFG is generally a older demographic. Anyway, weren't there greate  spamming controls in place this time and the Imperial winning streak didn't seem to suffer. Not saying that they stop all or even most cheaters, but you'd expect to see some effect.

Generally, I think that there are simply more of them. If Imperials win 50% of the games, but play loads, they will do better than, for example, Necrons who might only play in 10% but win all. The only fleet that comes close to the popularity of the Imperium, is Chaos, and I think that there are a lot less players out there of even them.

You must have the newer updated version of the FRoA, Tas ! :o  And I don't play BFG, but it would not surprise me if G/W developed an asymmetrical paradigm for a gaming system ... :;):

Wouldn't that actually be a disadvantage?
In EoT for example I think it worked out like this...

Imperial v Imperial = Disorder win
Imperial v Chaos = roughly 50% either way

So assuming 3:1 players follow the true way and choose the Imperial Navy ( :) ), then the Imperials should be looking at a 25% win ratio. Or am I missing something?

It depends on whether the count is only for wins. If just wins are counted and 100 games are played, all involving Imperials, 50 against Chaos, 20 against Orks, 20 against Eldar and 10 against Necrons.

If there is a 50/50 win ratio, the totals are:

Imperials 50 wins
Chaos 25 wins
Orks 10 wins
Eldar 10 wins
Necrons 5 wins

If the count is percentage, then there is a different story, as all races win 50%, no matter how many they play.

If two of the same races fought each other, the result is a loss.  I.e. Imperial A  V's Imperial B.  Imperial A wins= loss for Imperium recorded.  It was stated somewhere that thats how it work.

There would have been lots more Imperial players, but unless they fight a different side, they dont record a win. I'm not sure what happens if they fought, for example, Eldar.  I'm assuming the same.
