Can you hollow out the underside of the hull to reduce the bronze needed?

Nah, not really (but thanks for thinking of me). But while looking at ways of doing that I noticed my front hatch is tilted funny, so that will need to be redone. Plus I should add a hatch on the backside.

Edit: There, that's done.

Submitted file to Print a Part. I've heard they're better than GrowIt, and the price and timescale was good ($30 with a 2 day print time).

Delivered yesterday. Results are not noticeably better than other plastic printers at this point, but casting and priming will yield greater insight.

My gun mount isn't that great, but super glue should be sufficient.

The plastic is somewhat greasy, but Crusoe from the MoI forum offered some advice on how to deal with that.

A summary of my experiences:

AcuCast
Print within 1 to 3 days
Price $70 base plus about $2 per cubic centimeter thereafter
FedEx shipping only ($12 or more)

GrowIt
Print within 2 to 3 weeks
Price $50 for undefined large volume
USPS shipping or faster ($5 or more)

Print-A-Part
Print within 1 day (even Saturday!)
Price $10 per cubic centimeter
FedEx shipping only ($12 or more)
Greasy

All services appear to have same level of resolution. Note that I haven't used AcuCast in the last 6 months, and they claim to have upgraded their machine farm.

And a picture. The blue plastic from PrintAPart doesn't photograph very well.

The thingy on the left is my zombie robot defense doo-dad.

it's all glowy :) You could try bringing a lamp over and putting it in front of the models when you take the pic and see if that helps or up the levels in photoshop :)

I hereby upgrade PrintAPart to "better than GrowIt". The greasy/sticky/waxy goo didn't seem to impair molding.

In a fit of coffee frenzy earlier this evening I tried to order $170 worth of printed parts from AcuCast, but it didn't like my credit card. Thank God!

Still working out airflow in this mold.

This version of the Hadrian was a real pain in the ass to mold and cast. I have made a revised version and PrintAPart is chewing on it.

Otterman, I finally assembled the Hadrians, and they are sitting in the painting queue just behind my 40K Rhino (99% complete), a British Land Ironclads Army (50% complete), and the Skorne titan (35% complete) I have vowed to finally complete.

As you may know (or I may have already mentioned), the gun mount on the Hadrian has a big gap.  Superglue works fine, but the gap is quite noticeable. I'm too lazy to make a tiny shim and center the guns, and frankly they look great anyway, but, if you are re-tooling them, take a look at that. Also, I couldn't find a good way to mount the guns at an angle, but it seems like they should mount that way.

I like the latest CAD drawing, but I can't quite tell what's changed.  Is that bit (pipe?) at the back corner new?

Looks very promising in terms of detail when compared to the resins :-)
PS: Working on the last bits of your space ships at the moment :-)
