Now I'm excited! These are very interesting ideas.

Attilan/Rough Riders - Addition (Galloper Guns - Thudd Guns?) Minor point but flavourful?

Perhaps a separate "Renowned Regiments of the Imperium" book is in order.  Special Codex lists for Cadia, Catachan, Mordian, Valhalla, Tallarn, Attilan, Necromundian and any other I've missed (and people have enthusiasm for).

Yes please!  :) Sounds immense. What are we required to do? My minds fizzing with possible ideas.

Now, the obvious question that would need to be answered is which era of GW fluff should we base the lists on
The more general this is the better I think. I wouldn't like to test my background knowledge against others on this though. I'd lose.

I think if there are a few of us interested, we each take a few of the Regiments and come up with some ideas.  Bring them back to the group for vetting/normalising and put together a book.  I'd suggest doing it as a supplement to the existing Militaris book, and for each Regiment list restrictions on what they can have/must take/cannot have from the main book, plus any new units/formations in detail.  Kind of like what I did for the Necromundian one above...but obviously to a bit higher quality  :p .

I'll put my hand up for Necromundian, Tallarn and Attilan given these are the IG armies I've painted up :)

Sounds good.

Cadian please... same reason.

Erm, I'll leave it at that and let some others have a pick. Unlike greedy Zap who takes three.

Any left over I can pick up on if needs be, I suppose.

IG Regiments
Necromundian - Zap
Tallarn - Zap
Attilan - Zap
Cadian - Warhead - Started
Mordian - Zap again! - Started
Catachan -
Valhallan -

I think the new stuff may be an idea?

Armageddon Steel Legion -
Elysian - Scream
Death Korp of Kreig -
Minervan -
Vostroyans - Major_Gilbear? (Some arm twisting required  :)) )
Praetorians -

Tanith?.. -

(From Screams additional list)
Savlar Chem-Dogs -
Terrax Guard -
Harakoni Warhawks -
Kanak Skull Takers -

Any others?

Vostroyans?

I would also suggest that rather than restricting too many cards, each regiment is required to include certain cards instead. For example, Armageddon Steel Legion might be required to include at least one Mechanised Infantry Company per 3000 points or even one Mech. Inf. Detachment per 1000 points? Afterall, the flavour of the regiments is not really in what they can take, but rather in what they typically do! Just my £0.02.  :;):

Nice one Major_Gilbear... Makes sense. Yeah, it's another tool to getting a list to work.

So can I take it you've just put your name down for the Vostroyans then?  :;):

Lol, I'd be tempted to (I got into wargaming all those years ago on the back of Epic SM2!), but I sadly have *way* too many projects already... Although I'd still be happy to pitch in with the odd idea if it was needed.

If you're curious to see some Epic Vossies though, you might like to inspire yourself by looking at dancingmonkey's efforts over on Warseer. I think I can safely say he's as mad as all the other Epic players I've ever come across!

:)) Well, Major_Gilbear any helpful advice from anyone is appreciated. You obviously have a thing for the Vossies though so it might be better for you to get involved, that way you get to have a hand in how they end up.

Dancingmonkey's Vostroyans are excellent. I spotted he even managed to get some people interested in Epic again (EA). That's always good to hear.

Tanith == Catachans in most cases atleast.

Problem would be that both of these are highly specialized.
Tanith in covert operations and Catachan on jungle death worlds.

Tanith as a (special) Support Card and Catachan as a Special Card with Special Support Cards.
And the actual Catachan special rule would be that they can be exchanged for another formation of more or equal value once the battlefield is set up (ie if there's enough jungle or death terrain).

I don't know if I want to place these two together like that Erik. I see the Tanith as Light Infantry Recon Specialists who will do well in most environments while the Catachan are more Jungle Fighter (Dirty fighters) Specialists. Similar in ways sure but I would hope to make them that bit different so as to make it worth while.

So, are you saying you're wanting to take on these two Regiments?    Are you coming over to NetEpic now?

Sorry, I put them to close together. Tanith is scout, catachan is fighter.

No, Tallarn is my regiment of choice. Especially as I now have found the absolutly perfect models for them! Thanks Doug, Bob and DRM!  8v)
But as I don't play netEpic I must abstain from the honour of bring any cards to that table.

Sorry, Tallarn is taken...  :oo:  ...Oh, damn it Erik, I nearly forgot but you reminded me with your excellent IG models. Praetorians!

Yeah, those DRM models look the part for Tallarn. (I still can't believe you told Specialist Games to sod off, it still makes me laugh)

Input is always welcome...  ???  ...come to NetEpic Erik, where the friendly gamers chill.  :))

Ok, I'm starting a new thread for the Founding of the Cadian Regiment. I hope that is the thing to do and that more will follow and volunteer their help here. *Err-hem!*

Bugger me, I have an Epic scale Praetorians force; how could I have forgotten to list them!?

Ah well, mine look a lot like Erik's since they're based on the same models. Good job somebody remembered, heh

I also think that Tanith should have scout, urban and jungle/wooded environment rules, and that to reflect their dwindling numbers should be in self-contained formations that are added to other regiments.
For example, say I have a Necromundan Spiders regiment, and I decide to add Tanith Ghosts - I'd buy a Company card and maybe some support detachments subject to the usual rules and that's it. As they are effectively auxilia, I'd limit their involvement to say 25% of your total points and their command structures would be separate too (though Commissars would still be able to freely give orders to either regiments' units).
