Well, PANZERBUNNY and I have been chatting on various forums for quite some time, and we finally decided to meet and have a game of EPIC:A at one of the local game stores.

We just did 2000 points of Orks vs Space Marines.  PB brought his fantastically painted Badab War mixed Marines and I just used my Bad Moons; no planes or war engines.

Was great to bring another player into the fold.  Next time we'll be playing 4000, with all the toys!

Here's the Marine point of view:

An avid Flames of War player, PB caught on quick, but even an experienced Marine commander has trouble stemming the green (and yellow and black) tide of the WAAAGH!!!

Two brave Mantis Warrior Assault Marine units try to take on an entire Mekanized Ork Warband... and fail:

And a link to PB's fantastic looking Marines:

Great meeting you Lee!  We'll battle again in the New Year!

Good stuff! Yeah I've noticed Flames of War players pick Epic up a lot more quickly than 40k players. I wonder why that is... something about having to use more realistic tactics perhaps??  :)

I got a good taste of what the marines are about. Sadly in this battle it was all about dying.

Either have a purpose in mind how you'll win or bring out your dead.

Thanks for the photos.  It looks like you both had an enjoyable game.

Panzerbunny: Even if you are familiar with older versions of Epic, you can end up being heavily beaten in your first few games.  This has happened to me with my Eldar, as I am so used to how they worked in Space Marine, that I'm still having trouble finding my feet with them in Epic Armageddon.

I think it's a real challenge to win in Epic Armageddon, which is good in my opinion, as it will make me a better tactician in the long run.
