Ha ha! I love it when a ridiculous bit of luck bails me out. Last game I was taking a real hiding before my opponent lost a gargant with a series of appalling dice rolls, one after another.

This is far from the luckiest event ever though- he once destroyed an entire, undamaged eldar titan with ONE shot from a rhino. Can anyone beat that?

For outrageously bad fortune you can read the Necron vs. Ork batrep where my opponent lost 3 of 6 Fighta-bombers through weapon missfires in one turn.

I lost a Warlock titan to a shot from a IG Tactical stand once, but that's actually not that hard (just needs him to roll a 5+ and a 6, and me to roll a 2- and a 1) so I'm not sure I'd count that as outrageous fortune.  My best was killing an undamaged Heirophant outright with the Avatar in a single round of CC.

I once destroyed a Slahser with one Devastator stand. It hit once and started a fire. In the end phase my opponent just couldn't stop rolling 6's...  :vD

Then I managed to miss with each and every shot from an entire IG heavy weapons company.  :sigh:

Not exactly the same thing as it's not so reliant on dice rolls but so much could have gone wrong with my intricate plans and plots that I was immensely lucky it all went my way.

In a campaign while playing traitor (not Chaos) marines (various Chapters) I had, behind the scenes negotiated an alliance with the Chaos player. We devised a plan and set a trap for an Eldar player so that Chaos was in the centre of the table in setup and so nearest the Eldar enemy at the start of the game. I had also negotiated the Eldar into engaging this Chaos army, making him think I was on his side and we had surrounded the Chaos players army.

The first part went well and the Chaos player happily pounded on the Eldar armed with his six Warlords, and three Reavers etc while all the while my Devastators were landing from their Thunderhawks behind him (Chaos) as my Landspeeders got into position for an assault. Turn four/five came and I opened up with my first lot of devastators in the Advance Phase. Systematically picking off the shields of each Chaos Titan while my Thunderhawks finished them off with rear reactor shots with their Battlecannon. All his Titans were destroyed and many of the closer minions too. I was prepared for a messy next turn of retaliation but had planned for it. However...
The Chaos player surrender without any further resistance (broke the players spirit) while the remains of the Eldar withdrew.
A 6000 point airborne infantry army with Land Speeder support annihilated a 12000 point Chaos force (approx 1/3 of his entire army in game) with the loss of one Thunderhawk, a Librarian stand, and about three other infantry stands.

That was my first battle in my first campaign.

The arse got what he deserved. He welshed on hiking the  West Highland Way after I had spent £200 on equipment so he had it coming.
As part of the Campaign and as a direct result I was allowed to change a quarter of my traitor force to Tzeentch for being such a bad man and acting in traitorous character. Ain't I a stinker?!.

I once lost a game of Space Marine in the following spectacular fashion.

Me and opponent agreed to bring XXX points of any army. I brought Chaos.  He brought Squats. His army was comprised of a Grand Battery, several Thunderer squads, some Superheavies, and some bikes, as I recall.

My army included many slow-moving close-assault oriented gribbly monsters (minotaurs, plaguebearers, trolls, etc.), the Death Guard Space Marine Legion and Mortarion.  My entire army was cut down within a foot of its starting position.  He won 74-0.

OUCH.

I once won a game 2500pts to 0, in Warhammer Fantasy admittedly.

Oh well, so it goes.

Hi!

Oh, I think I can try to top the ones mentioned.....  :;):

I was playing Orks against IG.

I was counting the points for my wierdboy tower. Maximum power. Rolled a 6, so the wierdboyz head explodes. Rolled maximum radius forr the damage.

Several nearby clans are incinerated....

... nearby by large building fails is blasted to bits... along with the bad moons....

... Great gargant too close for comfort... ammo blows up...

... tallied the VP's (counting the great gargant in the end phase whom rolled max fires and blew up....)...

..I lost on the first turn with ONE DIE ROLL!

Hows that?  :p

Bwa-Haahahahaha! LOL  :D  I salute you sir.

Again not really the point but...

Mid game I received a phone call from my sister reminding me that it was my then Fiancées birthday that day and I had forgotten to buy her anything... the week before we got married. Ah, oops.  :oo:  Game called off due to thoughtless head up arse-ness and so I could buy a last minuet prezzy or die in attempt. I don't usually do such dumb ass things...

Edit: Misfortune for forgeting and Fortune for being reminded in time.

Leave it to Primarch to have the best bad luck story. I'll be surprised if any one can top that.

Hi!

Almost 20 years of epic gaming lets you see virtually all extremes of luck, both for and against you.

I've seen shokk attack guns take out praetorians (rolling hit and doubles) 3 consecutive times.

A whole detachment of terminators making their saves (rolling FOUR sixes!)

Mortarions Deathwind power takes' out an ENTIRE squat brotherhood because the squat player fails to make a single save out of 20 or so die rolls....

Single lascannon shot takes out gargant (powerfield flickers, rolls one on save and multiple sixes for max fires).

IG guards defend against striking scorpions killing the whole detachment. Eldar player rolls no better than a 5 on the three dice. IG player rolls no lower than 11 on his two dice including to consecutive double sixes!

Double pulsar eldar phantom, rolls double six, strips all the targets shields and blows it away....

Given time I could remember quite a few more amazing strokes or luck or bad luck.  :;):
