In order to bring this back around:

Zombocom alluded to 4-strong troupe formations of Swooping Hawks as worth 175pts earlier, moreso than other aspect types.

I content that this is because they can Teleport, and at 150/175pts they become more valuable than other aspect types, as you are no longer making a judgement on how to use them in the game... they are best used as Swooping Hawks in Teleporting to claim an objective, as they are so darned cheap!

Precisely my point. At the 4 base level swooping hawks become worth significantly more than other aspects for this precise reason.

I think that 4 Reapers is another example of a Troupe being a better point-value than a host.  It's nice fire support formation because it's small enough that you can give them transports.  8 in a homogeneous host is so large that it's unwieldy and DR don't mix all that well with other Aspects (basically, their only role is a place to put Exarchs to get the 3+FF EA).

Also, for an air assault I'd rather have 2 formations of 4 than one formation of 8.  The initial attack is identical but the follow on capability is better.  One formation of 8 can end up broken or heavily suppressed by casualties.  With 2 formations, you'll most likely end up with the "front" formation broken, but the "back" formation will be without BMs unless you take major casualties.  Everyone's seen this happen with the Thawk and 2 Assault Marine formations.  An unsuppressed formation plus the chance at an additional activation is better than a single, larger, suppressed formation.
