Maybe it's just me, but I think that design may be a little too obvious.  No offense to you Jav, I have loads of respect for you.

How about going with just the repair scorpion and leaving out the plain skimmer.  If you cut off it's tail you have the base of your wraith and a tomb spyder.  If you cut off the tail and it's manipulating arms, you have the base of your destroyer.  Plus those manipulating arms could go on your Talos

The more disguised things are, the easier it will be to skirt IP problems.

Maybe the repair scorpion should be a short walker instead of a skimmer.  If players "choose" to mount it as a skimmer, well that has nothing to do with it's intended purpose.

I honestly think it would also help to put something on the sprue that has nothing to do with Necrons.  Something like a Terminator skimmer would make a great "red herring" plus if done right, could be converted into a proxy Tau vehicle.

We need our imaginations in sneaky underhanded mode for projects like this.

Actually, if you remember the Terminator trading card game, they had a heavy weapons Terminator torso mounted on a skimmer platform very similar to the drawing.  That game was produced by Precedence Publishing which is now bust....so don't know about IP issues.  At the end of the day, it is a skeleton torso mounted on half a surfboard.......

No problem, Consectari!  That's why we're hashing this out now rather than post-production.

How does this sound:  robotic scorpions around 12mm to 15mm long, with molded-on claws but seperate tails.  The tails could be U-shaped, but being molded seperately, they'd be easy to dip in boiling water and straighten out, if anyone wanted to use them as, say, spines for some malignant robotic beastie.  The claws would be easy to remove, if the player chose to.

It could look something like this:

...but with the legs turned outwards, a smaller "head", and aforementioned spine-like tail.  The claws could be clamp-like, such as this:

...and there could also be one on the end of the tail.

Again, just kicking around ideas, here.  There are some more good-looking possibilities here:

Honestly I'd prefer if they were their own thing altogether.  I've never cared much for the Necrons other than "ooh, quasi-Terminators."  Then there was that 40k tournament...

This is what I suggested to Tony:

http://www.wizards.com/d20modern/images ... /95742.jpg

Without the legs, and a cannon of some kind on the back.

They said we'd be seeing the Zombie work this week, followed by the French Guard and then the Androids.

Wargames factory said they'd be working on the zombies this week, then the French and then the androids. I suspect people are waiting to see the direction they are taking this before pre-ordering.

I kinda suspected it would. I doubt we'll make 1000 tbh.

Possibly, but once we have some artwork to spur things along, we can push this on TMP, the various 6mm minis groups on Yahoo, etc.  We might be able to eke it out.

I need to find some time to sketch out the multipurpose robotic scorpion concept.

To be honest if I were them I'd be fearful making it. Its not that popular a scale and its something of a niche within it.

I agree, I know many folks who will not order minis from internet sites without photos, well those same folks would want to know what these will look like before they "order" any.

I'm one of the types waiting for the concept drawings. That and my hobby budget is planned out for the next couple months.  I want to see what direction they go with them.

Just curious, how long after you submit the idea does it take to show up?

I went today and I still do not see it.

Daniel

They said it could be a few days, so I'm figuring that Monday or Tuesday might be our day.

Well, still not up. Wonder if ti will ever be up.
