Really the 'I'm going to use the god as a bomb' plan shouldn't be an option. Where is the critical? If it only applied to necron units in range, maybe sucking their souls away and dusting them. That would be a critical!

I had taken my C'tan in as a SC with a beefed out Phalanx against some IG once.  They performed admirably but due to the terrain and consolidation moves they were left close together.  The IG took a vendetta shot at my Nightbringer and they got the crit - it wiped out over 300 points of Phalanx plus my C'tan.  UGH.

Those criticals only seem unfair until they hit the Necrons...  :upside:

The critical is basically an exact copy of what happens when a c'tan dies in 40k.

I say lose macro from it. It's just silly atm, and the main use of the c'tan.

See, that was your mistake. As a solo teleporting god bomb its a far safer bet :)

My last two games I fielded a C'tan and I had NO intention of using the unit as a bomb.  And correct me if I am wrong, Chroma, but your intention in this game was for the C'tan to survive, correct?

This is an assumption that I don't see in my own games, in Corey's games (the Necron champ).  It CAN be done, it has been done, in fact I've tried it, but I am not seeing the 'bomb' tactic as the main use by any stretch.  I'm also not seeing it doing much good either.

I'd post my last game from Saturday but it is my second of two games that never got past turn two... I was snowed out this time.   :mad:

I wasn't "planning" on the bomb, but I was kind of hoping for it...

As I said earlier, if The Nightbringer hadn't been my BTS formation, I would've been *totally* trying for a bomb... even to the point of teleporting into dangerous terrain near the enemy and hope for a "pre-turn" crit.

The MW explosion can easily wipe out 300+ points of stuff, strew Blast markers all over the place, and demoralize your enemy... ridiculously worth it.

For the record, Chaos GD crits were changed to affect only summoned units, on the grounds that a crit should (mostly) be detrimental to the being hit, not the one causing the crit.

Main use or not, I think that C´Tan crit looks highly problematic.

I´d start by reducing range and going from auto-hit to 4+, at the very least. Currently, this beats an orbital bombardment, commonly available at 150pts and usually striking nowhere near the enemy.

Mosc: It's pretty much the only reason I'd ever take a c'tan. I take a warbarque anyway, so can get supreme commander a lot cheaper. His abilities are nice, but I always, always try to suicide bomb with him. Even if it doesn't work it's worth trying. Teleport him out on his own near a big cluster of enemies, and engage, declaring them all intermingled. Kill a few then hope he goes boom.

It's ridiculous, and needs to go.
