Welcome Broodlings!

December is Tyranid Focus month for NetEA development.

Please post the areas of the list you think need the most work and the direction you think we should take things.  Eventually we'll achieve the unity of the Hive Mind... or die trying!   :))

As topics are posted here, I'll create new theads for them.

Thanks!

I have a 4k game with them today that I hope to do a batrep for. I'll collect my thoughts as well but my "wish list" is rather small with the latest list.

I'd like to see a varient list get worked on representing Hive Fleet Leviathon, i.e. the current state of tyranids in 40k.

What would you see as needing to be "different" in such a list, Zombo?

Losing the units not found in 40k, such as the bio tanks and replacing them with carnifex varients, adding uits such as tyrant guard, malanthrope etc.

AFAIK Tyrant Guards are incorporated in the stats of the Hive Tyrant. If a new model is to be relaesd it would be a base with a Hive Tyrand and a few Tyrant Guards on it.

An the Bio-Tanks:
Well ForgeWorld created the Barbed Hierodule and the Scythed Hierodule. And later the Trygon.
It doesn't take much imagination to realise that the Trygon replaces the old Trygon bio-tank and that the Barbed Hierodule is the "new" Malefactor and the Scythed Hierodule the "new" Haruspex.

The only entirely new creation FW made was the Malanthrope.

Taking this a step further the Dactylis and Exocrine could be WE-sized creatures too. Could be the comeback of the Expectorator  :))  I imagine it similar to a Scythed Hierodule without the scythes (just smaller claws)but instead of the Acid Spray it would have a big bio-cannon similar in looking as the one of the Biovore.

I disagree that the scythed and barbed hierodules have anything to do with the bio tanks. The trygon obviously does, but it's a lot smaller than the hierodules, and kept the same name.

Like I said, there are enough FW big gribblies to make a Tyranid list representing only the currently existing 40k units quite viable. The role of 'biotanks' in 40k is these days covered by differently armed carnifex.

Quite possibly, but that doesn't mean they're represented in Hive Fleet Leviathon.

*looks up Codex*
The Trygon, Haruspex, Malefactor and Exocrine are mentioned in the tree. They have a speculated link to the Ravener.

Hierodules and Hierophants have a speculated link to the Carnifex and Dominatrix.

What was published first? The current Codex Tyranids or the FW Hierodules?
Imperial Armour 4 clearly was published after Codex Tyranids.

Edit: But no need to delete the bio-tanks from the current list. I recently purchased some Malefactores and Haruspices ;)

I added shields to the E40K Hive Tyrants and use them as Tyrant Guards ... I use the SM2 Hive Tyrant for ... well ... my Hive Tyrant ...  :alien:   My version of Barbed Hierodule & Bio-Tanks ...  :alien:

Agreed, that's why I was discussing a new varient list.

Gents, as someone that would like to see one list worked on do you think you could try to concentrate on the main list before branching off on other sub lists? Sorry if that sounds rude but I think it would be best for everyone if their efforts were concentrated.

It's not rude, it's quite right.

We really need to nail down all the essential Tyranid rules and unit types before branching off into variant lists.

I have, personally, at least four "variant" Tyranid lists in various stages of planning, but their development is contingent on getting the "core" Tyranid list done first.

The FW Hierodules.

Chroma has a copy of my own Leviathan-style list, which IIRC I've not published online.

The current list is very much a Kraken/Behemoth style list, as befits its very old models.

IIRC 'Hamman's World' is indeed a planet that was eaten by Kraken or Behemoth.
