Welcome to Alfakta, the international interstellar space campaign!

"The Alfakta sector sir?", the young scholar shuffled his notes at the direct question from the Lord Holder.
"It's reported to be a verdant place, but infested by all sorts of strange and dangerous and wondrous creatures. There's even a rumour that the guild of arms dealers have put out serious bounties on capturing planets there."

Yes, it's back and this time kicking dust!

New and improved features include:
* report interface
* battle report forum
* sponsored prizes
* a website of our own

Sponsorship & Prizes
We are presently supported by Baccus, Brigade Models, Dark Realm Miniatures and Future War Commander. A big thanks to them for that.
We hopefully have a couple more jumping on the bandwagon shortly. Prizes are split in two major groups; running prizes (second planet won by a faction), end phase prizes (to be won as the campaign is won and closes.

Ok, so what's all this about then?

It's a way to combine all our battles into one big campaign, regardless of where we are and what we play!
And as we speak of it, why not take a look at how the map look: http://alfakta.org/
Especially the report interface! Easy as pie to report a battle. Check it out!
Any battles in the various small scale sci-fi systems can be reported and will be used, as well as all space battle systems.
Examples of systems would be Epic, Future War Commander, Seeds Of War, Iron Cow, Dirt Side, BFG, Full Thrust, Starmada, B5:ACTA etc.

Looking at the map you'll notice that there's five faction battling for supremacy. Some words might be needed here.
Machine are those that are based on various cortex, matrix, IA etc. Such as Necron and Andrayada.
Devour are those that mainly see everything else as pure food, such as Tyranids, Worms (Hastur?) and Skyth.
Alien are the various xenomorphs that act and think almost as humans, such as Eldar, Orks, Centaur, Tau etc.
Humans mustn't have examples, right?

Chaos is a little bit special. There's those said to be it from their system. There's also another instance of them. Which is when two of the same type make battle (if for nothing else the evil and chaotic powers laugh and celebrate!). In this case you have to decide before the battle who is "pure" and who is "chaotic".

You also see three coloured dots at each planet. That's to mark ownership and theatre between two factions. There's always only two factions contesting a planet. Once all dots are of one colour that planet is fully in that faction's control. Exact planet for each conflict is decided by which are closest and uncontested.

And it works like what and what must I do?

You as a player needs to do two extra things when having a battle.
1) Decide what faction each of you fight for.
2) Report the battle's outcome at alfakta.org/report.php (preferably before sunday 24:00).

And then perhaps hope for a third to happen. That you're the one conquering the second planet and win the army package (or rules) from one of the sponsors!
Yes, each sponsor is in for two prizes each! Good chaps they are!

Gentlemen, start your plasmaguns!

Erik M

Thank you guys!

We are now also happy to announce Ironwind (Battlemech, B5:ACTA etc) as yet another sponsor of this!

And I'm hoping to get both the rudimentory forum and About page up and running.
Yes, a quite basic forum, as it otherwise would draw quite some bandwidth and this is my totally hobby project. Ie there's nothing in it for me from anywhere, just the fun of doing it.

You could use something like ProBoards. (That is actually how this place started out... a long time ago!

(Damn, it still exists!)

Yes, there's a bunch of fairly free and good boards to use. But I'll first give that job too to my son. It's him that has been slaving for our benefit this last week. All PHP is his. :D
That way it's easy to use one registration for both reporting and reports.

Just a reminder to report this first week's action.
And a chance to show our very generous sponsors that we like them and gaming with their models and rules too... :O

Alfakta international interstellar space and planet campaign.
All you really need to do is register and then report your various battles.
And then sit back and see the campaign unfold and people get bragging rights and even good sized prizes.

Welcome!

I'll be the dissenting voice here. It actually doesn't look good and it really needs to be redesigned or have someone with some web design experience go over it.

Great idea and it looks like it might be fun but as it stands it really is difficult to figure the site out.

You shouldn't let your hard work and effort (and possibly a good idea) get ignored because of some really bad HTML designs.

My comments were based solely on what was posted here. I had not seen the Alfakta Campaign site until today as a matter of fact. However, I do not see anything wrong with it though admittedly I am ignorant of such things. I am honestly impressed due to the scale of the idea and the amount of effort I imagine it must have taken... and because I would be without the slightest inkling on how to go about this sort of thing myself.

I'm trying not to be overly reactive here so would like to suggest that if there is something wrong with the site that could be dealt with then perhaps an offer of help is required instead of... ...well intentioned comments.

Alfakta

"Human Erik_M's Space Marine defeat Alien Martin's Eldar on Wimstone I in Epic Armageddon"

Ok, the first initial week is done. Just four days and everyone to get the idea. So perhaps not a surprise that only one battle got posted?

What would help YOU to join?

Sorry Erik but what I need are more players who don't work shifts or overtime or have conflicting hobbies like Diving at the weekends... and now is the season of "The Endless Christmas Nights Out" so no games for quite a while yet I'm afraid... Maybe Santa will bring that time dilation device I asked for.

Well Jim, opponents is hard for me to do anyth... Actually there is something to do about that.

What about solo gaming? Is there any serious tries at making that a viable form of gaming with our dear little toy soldiers?

The various Tusk scenarios from Irregular could work. The beasts move at random and given strict rules for set up etc one could actually make it a competition.

There would need to be a few special considerations for us. One is that your force has to attack all four other factions, ie four fights. Another is complete reports with pictures.

Thoughts on this?

Not when there is a prize at stake. Can't be done and would not be right. I'll just have to post when able as most others. Bad time of year for gaming though. Sooo much Christmas Spirit what with all the hearty quaffing and guzzling to be done.  :p

I don't mind doing fillers for between games to set the scene for the next battle in a campaign though. Photo's and story sort of idea. I've used this before and it can be quite effective at generating interest.

So one can only critique if you intend to help solve the problem?
