Yep, I've had the exploding paint bottle before. Mine was Vallejo Model Color ivory.

Mine is a "cursed" Gargant. Its fallen to the floor I dont know how many times, and been re-glued as many times. I guess its something with the low center of gravity!

This sort of thing can be extremely frustrating, it sucks, but be patient. Its ok, no one was harmed, etc.

I will take a quote from my Necron thread... I had just been complimented for my Necron Destroyer Lord...

I will try to enlighten you as to how near this came to disaster. I foolishly constructed the arm before cutting off the legs. So when I did cut the legs off the whole torso and arm flies off into the void. Forty minuets of frantic searching later I finally find the soddin' thing stuck to my sons fleece (with my son in it) and the prong of the staff was stuck to his sock... I mean, really... I ask you, would you say my technique is what you would term 'neat work?'

From this Necron Thread
http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums....9;st=30

This is the madness that is my method. I use it all the time as this sort of stuff happens to me constantly.

If it's only paints we're talking about. How about the time I tried to open a pot of Citadel Black ink wash and it slipped out my hands and onto the carpet... in front of my wife. This was not a happy place to be for quite some time.

Or the time I tried to place a tray of lose Ork minis back into the cupboard but it got caught slightly on another box and as I pushed it upwards it sliped off the lip of the other box, flew out of my hand and opened in mid flight showering me, the couch I was leaning over and the entire cupboard with a full box of precious wildboys, madboys and gretchin etc.

I could go on but I'm getting depressed at how clumsy I am.

Finished a whole company of Leman Russ and two companies of Chimeras. Wanted to seal them. Picked up the can and sprayed one wave of primer accross the batch before my brain told my hand what a dork I am.  :sigh:

I was so angry I just tossed the whole batch into the solvent pot and ignored then for a week.

The sealer and primer are no longer kept together.  :glare:

I recently pulled the Exploding Vallejo pot trick with Red.
The wall behind my painting desk looks like I was shot in the head while sitting at my desk. I left it.

Word of caution: If you are squeezing on Vallejo paint, and no paint it coming out, stop squeezing.

All my hobby fails involve me slacking when it comes to vigilantly putting things away so the kids don't get into it while I'm at work.  So far I've had the following things happen when any one of my four sons have "helped" me with my miniatures:

- a Windsor-Newton Series seven #2 brush used to spread super glue on something :_(
- several CAV miniatures in various stages of completion completely covered with a generous helping of purple craft paint.  One stand of infantry became a group of four purple blobs that were totally unrecognizable
-freshly finished infantry held upside down and rubbed back-and-forth across the patio table which had a generous helping of rather abrasive dirt on it.  These would be the same stands as before after having been repainted
-several drops requiring chipped paint to be repaired if possible
-large amounts of flock dumped out
-spilled half a bottle of paint while I was still inventorying the rest of the order, yeah, I'd just opened the box
-several smushed (that's a technical term) paper buildings, but I don't really count those as I can just print more, but it's still annoying to have to
-carved Styrofoam hills picked at so that there are now large white scars in the brown paint and green flock
-trees picked apart

That's all I can think of for now.  I'm sure there'll be more when I get complacent again.

Oh no..
I built a 1:35 Leopold railgun once, and it layed finished on the table.
Just had to finish painting one figure, so I stirred an humbrol flesh colored pot, and it slipped and everything was full of pink paint..
Needless to say I was in a hurry because someone was coming to pick me up.

Lots of swearing and frantic tries to save it with some wet towel. Really don't recommend it to anybody, but at least I learned not to stir a paint pot near a finished model (well I hope I earned it).

Hehe I also did a "vallejo" once... with khaki!

It popped just as I had put minis all over my desktop.. literally!

I got it in my eyes, my clothes, the desktop and walls... but miraculously (sp?) NONE of the minis where hit! I starred in disbelief for a moment and then washed my self!

Another time I did one everyone is bound to have tried: "Drill in finger" Pushed all that I could on the pin vice trying to drill deeper and deeper... it went through the mini, into my finger, delivered a metalfragment which I spent an hour trying get out.

When I finally got it out I went back to my hobby room to cut some wire to put in the holes I had just drilled. I used a plier (a yellow one from GW) to cut the wire. upon the first cut, the bit snapped and flew straight into my eye!
I rushed up to look in a mirror to see how much damage was done! Luckily no penetrating hit!

I decided that I should work no more hobby that day.

I definately have a severe case of "converter's thumb", with dozens of small cuts adding up over the years to a bunch of micro-scars.

I also have several conversions that I still haven't the heart to fix after they got crushed.

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only klutz here!  :vD

I've spilled paint plenty of times in my life, but fortunately never on painted minis or all over my clothes. I did have an Imperator fall over, twice, while I was assembling it and letting the epoxy dry. The tip to one of the spires broke off and is missing. Also, I have an annoying habit of dropping minis on the floor, a bare cement floor that is.

I was finishing up a model that I intended to enter in the Epicomps ('04 or thereabouts).  I hadn't used the sealer/varnish in a while and I sprayed it in less than ideal lighting conditions.  I had forgotten how ridiculously fast it came out and sprayed so much on the model that all the crevices turned white from the buildup.

I repainted it and entered it in the competition, but it wasn't as good the second time around (probably because of an accident-induced lack of patience).
