Yeah, but in those days 'their guts' didn't end up melting the treds...

So how's the painting of this army going? I'm working on a flying Hive Tyrant, almost done, but I don't like the wings. I keep doing small hard time consuming conversions as well as mounting all mine on round bases, so that slows my progress down.

Love to see an update of your army if you've been at it. Surely you should have almost all your Nids painted

Where is Link?!. Have I been sleeping while online again? If no link then you simply must get a thread started immediately for all us nosey TacCom punters in need of encouragement. The winged Hive Tyrant is a good idea and I have one set of wings on standby for a later date.

If I could equate how my Tyranids are coming along to a motor-vehicle, where a complete force would equal an Astin Martin and where negligible advance in painting would be a bus ticket then mine would be a burnt out wreck on bricks that's been lying there for months and has weeds growing out the windows from within.

I'm actually waiting for Onyx to finish CAL's Iron Warriors so I can ask him to paint them instead.  of course I think I will need a lottery win to pay for it though.

The only progress with this lot has been in my head... in that I have seen loads of excellent stuff on here that I want/need to copy for my own and I've been thinking and filing away ideas until I get time. I almost have enough Tyranid 40K adrenal glands and bits to make a load of Ripper Swarms so I may do those some time soon.

I think though that I have been busy enough with my Imperial Guard, Sisters of Battle/PDF, Slaanesh Knights and Alter and Necrons not to mention the two large Battle Reports, running a local Epic Campaign and all the chitchat and cheekiness on the TacCom threads... and now I'm back at work full time my time is severely limited  :sigh:

But working full time mean you got more money. Which should mean you could hire a painter... Not that that will ever happen, as the extra money will go to extra models, but anyhow.

Only weeds? Be happy! My neigbour got a tree through the hood... And it's not a mere sapling.

Unfortunately not, Erik. For now the money is full pay but I may only have a few weeks before a meeting is arranged with occupational health to see if I can still do a job after my eye surgeries (detached retinas) but after that I will have only six months to get another job within my present organisation or they can technically chuck me out on my ear... with a pension. Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic but that's how things appear to me just now.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it all goes well for you.

I came across this thread via a trade post so checked it out again. I've been working on my Tyranids very slowly and My Winged Tyrant Group is getting slowed down by all the other bits and pieces I'm working. So I know what you mean when you see other stuff here and want to copy it.

I'm using the Wings from a Harridian, although if I could have been arsed, I reckon I could have sculpted them at a better standard. Because I was lazy, I didn't think too much and pinned the wings, which meant having to sculpt the limbs along the visible pin. This resulted in the limbs looking very straight and stiff. And I'm too far down the line (yeah, too lazy too) to correct it.

Anyway, I just need to finish painting the wings, but at the same time I've been saving all my Tyranid work until I re-enable my web hosting, sorta a  grand opening.

Looking forward to it Lextar. I need the insperation to help me pick up from where I left off with my Nid's.

That does sound like a lot of work. Isn't it totally hilarious how you can start things with great ideas and then too late, suddenly something else comes along and would have been easier to do in time, money and finger skin grafts...   ...bet it looks cool when it's done though.

I'm even lazier than you Lextar as I have a pair of 40K Harpies wings that I'm just gona' glue onto a Tyrant... Ta-Dah! A flying Hive Tyrant!..    I bet some people think I'm mocking the sculpting/moding community but to be honest I'm just lazy and have a lower bench mark for a sense of achievement.

I was toying with the idea of ordering FW flying rippers and using the wings from them on my Flyrants.

Good/Bad idea?

@Warhead: Keep up the work on the bugs. I got mine on the back burner until I get all the bits I need and decide on a suitable colour scheme to do my bugs justice. I had a game with Justinel at the weekend and he mentioned he was trying to meet up for a game. If you don't mind another party crasher I would love to come and get beat by you - he has beaten me twice in 2 outings!

Thanks Daemonkin,

The more the merrier in my opinion. It's always good to meet, battle against and drink with new players. I don't know what facilities Justin thinks I have at Port Patrick (Just a static Caravan) but the bars are very lively at Life Boat Week... If it's a battle you are looking for it may be better for me to come over to J's whenever I'm next down at the Caravan (next year sometime).

How is Justiniel doing?.. With the exception of the victory dancing for having just won of course...    I see I am going to have to learn the EA rules to give you both a game. I take it you don't play NetEpic. Any tips as to what I would be best to field army wise as a starting player?..  :sulk:

Is this, them?

Thanks, that's quite the compliment.    I just hope I can advise you correctly. Put it this way. I've since had a look at them and I think they are spot on and have tucked that little idea away for later. Be sure to post yours when you get started.

on my Flyrants
What are these? EA goodies? Do you have a picture or description/stats of these? Much interest! Is it Harridan big or are we talking Bio-Titan'esk! (Wings may be too small).

Flyrant is just a 40k term for winged hive tyrant. Similar to nidzilla or other jargon.

J is fine, played against his Blood angels with my guard. Used the game and horse shoed it into our Heresy Era campaign

Never played Net Epic so could not possibly comment on any forces.

Whereabouts are you based anyway? I thought it was North Scotland? J and I live a few miles from each other and we game at the club in my hometown although the missus has allowed me to have games nights each week at ours - currently running Bloodbowl league but have no problem with playing Epic/40k/anything else.

No probs on the idea - flying rippers will be fine I think, may just have to order them this week with some more Warhounds.

for winged hive tyrant.

Oh, I see. That one has been added to the 'words I haven't heard before' list. Yes those will be very good for a Winged Tyrant. I have one set of Warhammer Harpy (IIRC) wings that look just right for my one and only 'Flyrant'. I too may just purchase one or two myself... they even look good enough as is to be some sort of new Tyranid construct... hmmm...

I've PM'd you with some details of where about I am.

may just have to order them this week with some more Warhounds

Haha, yes there can never be enough Warhounds.  :))  I wasn't so sure about the new model at first but it is beginning to grow on me. I have at last count 21+...ish old Warhounds and would not say no to more if they where the new ones.

I can be persuaded to play anything you want so long as I can learn the rules in the time allowed and not embarrass myself too much. Win or lose you still get a game, right?

Been looking at the Heresy Era campaign... your rebels deserved what they got for turning from the Emperor. Seriously, nice campaign. This has been added to my favourites and will be watched closely. So be warned.

If I fly in the 13th Nov and out the 18th, will you house me?
It's like £40 with Ryan Air... Beware - Be Warned

Whoa! Big step!.. I've always wanted a Swedish Auipair but I'm not sure you fit the bill there Erik!

If I was still single I could swing it in but a moment and I would say yes. I have all my Annual Leave still to take for this year.

However, I am not single. I am married to a very lovely woman and after mentioning this to her I could see concern (naturally), I hope you can understand. Perhaps at a later date however this could be a possibility. I never imagined flights were so cheap. That is food for thought full of potential and possibilities.

Cheers, Jim...

I think I quite easily can convince her that I'm not after your body...

Yes, flights can be that cheap, IF you end up fairly close to where you want to go.
A weekend in say London, or Glasgow, can be arranged really easy with some planning.
