Good grief! An update...

The army is all but finished (well, I've got 3000 points painted) and it seemed like time to show you some new stuff.

So, first up, the Hydras:

Some deathstrikes (with magnetised missiles as if confirmation were needed that I take things too seriously some times):

The navy with new bases (also magnetised):

Some Valkyries with one prototype 'jungle' bases as practice for the upcoming Catachans (more trees needed I think):

The warhound (awaiting basing and transfers):

And finally, an army pic:

Oh, and here's a glimpse of what's next, hot googly-moogly, it's the artillery company:

Awsome  Those jungle trees really add something extra to those Valkyrie bases!

how did you magnetize your Thunderbolts? A picture of the underside would be greatly appreciated ^_^

Thanks for the comments, any feedback is much appreciated and should help me get the rest of the stuff finished. There's just 9 Basilisks, 2 Valkries, 1 warhound, 1 reaver and 2 more flying bases to go... And then I can start thinking about the Catachans!

I'll snap a picture of the underside of the planes tonight, it's nothing fancy, I just drilled out a 2mm hole and greenstuff/superflue a rare earth magnet in there (2mm x 1mm). With the stand I snip off the thing pointy bit and superglue a magnet on (I scored both magnet and base to help the glue 'grab' on better). So far the planes seem to stay on ok and the magnets have yet to come off. It makes transporting them easier and, for the valkyries, means that they can 'pop down' when line of sight needs checking. One word of warning - I couldn't get this to work with the larger Marauder bomber that I've got, he just spins around like a lunatic on his magnetic twizzle stick. Bigger magnets needed there I think.

And a quick question - are my pics small on your screens? When I put them on last night they were pretty large (almost screen width using Firefox on the Mac), at work today they have shrunk dramatically (explorer on the PC).

Cheers again - L.  :D

Theat is some truly inspirational work levinas!

Thankyou so much for sharing the pics, I love the detail and the creativity on the bases. Fantastic use of palm tree bits.

Brilliant.

Those flyers are amazing, really like the magnetized deathstrikes as well.

Thanks for the kind comments, makes sharing worthwhile!

Here's the promised picture of the magnet. As you can see it's not that neat but you can't see the magnet once it's 'flying'. On the Landa I recently magnetised I drilled a deeper hole so that the magnet is helped out a bit by the plastic stick which is very snug following a little greenstuffing. It seems to have worked. Anyway, the pic:

Oh, and the trees are the 40K jungle trees. The problem with them is that you don't get enough small treetops so I've ended up buying quite a few sets (if anyone in the UK wants to sell some let me know!). Here's a picture of one of my woods:

Re Trees, I had a feeling it was so, looks great, though it seems like a relatively wasteful and expensive way to go

Expensive yes, but I did have some lying around from 40K and blagged some more from a friend so it's not been too bad. Three sets has got me two woods and I'm probably looking at getting about the same again.

Having said that, I'm about to wander out to the deli to get coffee and cake - if I compare plastic trees to what I spend there every day then GW trees start to look pretty cheap...

Finally more to show, the first three of my nine Otter-created Armageddon pattern basilisks...

And a side shot:

They still need varnishing and basing but they're almost done. I hope they meet with O'man's approval.
