Some progress on the side of the Bison tank. Still need to do the individual tread pieces and the central hull.

I suggest a Reaver Titan.

It would be cool if Forge World could lend him one to measure.

I've been thinking about having a go at a Reaver myself - I wasn't too keen on the FW 40k one when I first saw it, but it's grown on me...

Problem is size. Having done some scale calculations, I reckon it'd be close on 90mm tall to the top of the missile pod, and about 50mm wide. That sounds pretty darn big to me. My current SG Reavers are about 55 to 60mm tall, depending on weapons.

I don't have a current Warlord model to measure, just beetlebacks. Can anyone tell me how tall the curent SG Warlord is?

Regards,
Reaver

Ta da!

Lesson learned: design an individual track piece first, then make segments of track multiples of the individual piece.

very nice! how big is that? it could be fun to use as a russ proxy by maybe tacking on sponson on that gap on the side.

Top view...

Hmm. Maybe I should make the side panels optional to accomodate either the vent plates or sponsons.

that would be pretty cool.

How big are the russes? same size? I don't have any here at work to measure :)

Seeing the turret from the top view makes me think it should be a bit wider to overlap the tracks a bit more as it looks a little squished to me.

Similar size I'd say as mine are based on 40x20 bases and there isn't much base at either end. It may be a bit longer and wider.

This looks very cool - top work O-man! Are you planning to get it printed?

Regards,
Reaver

Would it also be possible to make some stuff using Google Sketch up and then have it printed out in 3d? You might want to take a look at these pieces of work. :)

The route from Sketchup to STL is not very reliable yet (at least, for me).

I could probably quickly create a 3DM/STL version in MoI given a Sketchup file as a starting point.

Could you ask CELS on my behalf for a file, or should I? The Manticore Secundus would be good. I can reciprocate with a file of my own.

OpenNURBS (3DM) files are natively supported. The importer claims IGES (.igs .iges), SAT (.sat), STEP (.stp .step), and illustrator (.ai .eps), but I don't know if the resulting imports can be edited or just displayed.

Exports are the same, plus 3DF, STL, Wavefront, STS, and LWO.

A recent beta added a Sketchup export, but I haven't tried it.
