Quoting C/S:
1. Are miniatures other than EA allowed?

2. Are miniatures for other game systems allowed (ie not just DRM minis for my IG force, but for my SoW force)?

...

4. Best Formation is only an EA formation, and from which lists are allowed?

... and L-4:
shouldn't there be a DRM & E/W Category ?
Well, my reading of the rules (correct me if I'm wrong...) is that entries can be for any 6mm sci-fi game: so they could be a formation of Khazari from Exodus Wars, a Majestic titan from SoW, or an Imperial Guard company assembled and based according to Net-Epic/SM 2 rules and stats.  Not just E:A stuff!

Have I got that right, V?  If so, I think this is a canny move, as it cuts down on the number of categories, so in a way makes entry simpler.  It makes the competition a heck of a lot tougher though, not just for entrants but for voting!  :;):

Hmmm ... sounds pretty good ... But No terrain category ?  And shouldn't there be a DRM & E/W Category ? Just asking ! 8v)

I'l begin with L-4: The full list of categories will depend on the prizes on offer; the three categories most likely to be added are:

Seeds of War (Dark Realm Miniatures)
Exodus Wars
Terrain/open category (terrain/terrain and dioramas).

On to CS:
1. Are miniatures other than EA allowed?

Amended

2. Are miniatures for other game systems allowed (ie not just DRM minis for my IG force, but for my SoW force)?
See below.

3. I assume that the announcement winner date is subject to voting issues - ie the number of rounds required, etc.
Amended

4. Best Formation is only an EA formation, and from which lists are allowed?
See below.

5. What is a Titan class? Any WE classification? The Tau Manta?
Amended - I hope.

6. Battle Force seems a large category if it has five formations.
See below.

7. Just to reiterate that pics must be directly uploaded here, and not linked. Also, there is a 150Kb limit to all posts (increased from 75Kb), and this sets one of the entry restrictions.
Pic size amended.

As regards points 2,4,6 by CS (above) and the other queries re formations/units/battleforce in different systems:

I am (as indicated above) still waiting for confirmations of prizes to finalize the categories, and this will have some bearing, in particular if (for example) EW and SoW become distinct categories.

As regards category 1, which is easily the most confusing, my options are:
A - keep as is, with formations being of EA size
B - setting a fixed size, namely 4 models (be they tanks, stands, monsters or whatever) - this would standardize between EA and any other possible system.
C - scrapping the idea and reducing to the plain old 'simgle model category'.
Currently I'm favouring option B, with option C as runner up.

As regards category 3, this would become 5 formations of either 4 models each (based on the revised rules for category 1) or a single war engine class eg:

one formation: commander with 4 Terminator stands
two formations: 4 Tactical marines stands
one formation: 4 Land Raiders
one formation: Warhound Titan

If 5 war engines are chosen, this would be just 5 models; if 5 4-model formations are chosen, this would be 20 models.

Phew! Keep up the comments and suggestions guys.  :vD

IMPORTANT - entries should be models which have not been previously shown on the Tactical Command forum; this is to avoid having extra exposure to some entries in contrast to others.

Hi Van,

Thanks for getting this all organised.

I can cetainly understand not allowing entries from previous comps but there is definately a problem with not being allowed to enter anything that we have painted and already displayed in the last year (previous rules were nothing over a year old and not already entered in a previous comp - right?).

Surely the members here are able to make their own minds up without feeling influenced by having been subjected to extra exposure.

I think your going to have to reconsider this or there will be members who are being penalised by having already shared there hobby work, not knowing that they would not be able to enter the comp later on.

Anything done in the last year and not already entered into a previous comp should be fine.

Hope this makes sense...

Steve.

Category 1 - Best formation
Any entry in this category consists of a complete formation of 6mm (Epic) scale science fiction models. War machines and titans should be entered in their specific category, category 2.

Category 2 - Best war machine/titan
Any single war machine or titan-class model in 6mm (Epic) scale. This could be either a titan-size vehicle or monstrous creature of any type, or a superheavy vehicle or similarly classified monstrous creature.

Pssst, it's war engine.
Also, what about war engine formations? You should clarify that.

Steve.

Hi Onyx, you got me on that one. I'd meant to check that with previous editions of Epicomp and completely forgot. I have corrected this in the relevant post.

RedSimon - d'oh.   engine it is.

As regards war engine formations - to permit entries based on different systems I'd go for the following:
War engines and Titans category 2 - single model.
Battleforce - formation of war engines and/or titans.

Guys, take a look at the categories post - there's an important update - or rather, an addition.  8v)

THanks Van, just thought I'd muddy the waters ! 8v) But with DRM & E/W's creators being denizens here, I figured they would be interested in being involved. And there are a bunch of dudes here who have DRM & E/W models in their Epic Forces. And I have a predilection for terrain making and hope to enter some in that catagory(if it come about !)    Plus I've seen some of the other Boyz' terrain here and it's pretty frakk'n good ! :vD

As regards war engine formations - to permit entries based on different systems I'd go for the following:
War engines and Titans category 2 - single model.
Battleforce - formation of war engines and/or titans.

Hmm, that's a bit tricky, as I have an AMTL army. I wanted to enter my Warhound Packs in category 1 and 3 (as part of the army), and the whole army woulkd contain several Titans as well as several Titan (i.e. war engine) formations (the Warhounds). As war engine formations are usually small I would prefer making them category 1, as the larger ones can usually only be fielded as single war engines. Or you could allow war engine formations in category 2, which seems fair.
Which brings up another question: Can we enter a model in different categories? Could I enter my (Battle) Titans in Category 2 and the whole army containing them in category 3?

RedSimon - working on it. This needs some thought.
As regards models being included in more than one category, I'd normally say no, but I'd like a couple of opinions.

In last years comp you could NOT use the same mini in multiple entries and I think thats the way it should be.

Just pick where your entry fits best and post it there.

Steve.
