Is there going to be another print run? If so I might like to get another copy to give away at our October tournament.

Got mine today! Distribution in Germany was a little slow! ;-)

Outstanding! I even refrained myself from having a real look at the pdf to enjoy the real thing. Very, very good job! :-)

PG,

Sorry for the late response.  I am collecting money for the next run of 25 books from the printer.  I've got six pre-ordered already and another five orders that are 'pending' (people who expressed an interest but who haven't gotten around to paying me yet).  Once I hit around 15-20 orders and pending orders I'll request a run at the printer.

So a short answer to your question is YES.  Please feel free to PM or post here and let me know how many you think you would want.  It's a good idea to ship them in bulk, especially international.

Warphead and Onyx,

You are quite welcome.  I am glad to say that the responses have been much more favorable than I expected.

With that said, there are some really good things in the works, everyone.  Raiders is hopefully to be the first of many fan produced supplements.  Here is a preview of things that I know are in the works that could possibly be hitting the press in the next year or so:

1. Mossino Campaign.  Ben Skinner's (E&C) work was IMO the original fan made supplement and what really inspired us to get Raiders done.  His work is being redone with new artwork and such and if there is a good enough response I think we'll see that in print sooner than later.

2. Epic: Crusades.  Chroma has been busy these days but nobody should assume that his project is going away.  I don't think you will see this for awhile but once its done I predict it will be the most popular of the fan made supplements.

3.  Epic: Xenos.  A not-so-secret project that is in the works that will hopefully be done by early next year.  I refuse to set a time table since it isn't my project and I'd only be jinxing myself if I did.  I am helping this one along, however, as it has taken on some really neat directions.  More details to follow.

And others as well.

Please continue to show off your copies of Raiders and see if you can get your friends to buy some.  We're very close to turning a profit (finally!) on this book which means we can start sending money to the American Cancer Society.  Future publications will have a MUCH easier time since the money to start up the account will be paid completely.

One slight note of caution for future publications:- I do not think we should assume that we will get exactly the same format, both because there were a significant number of printing issues (which I would expect the printer to want to rectify), and also there were some minor typos / graphic issues that we might also want to avoid (only an irritation to the perfectionists amoung us)

Ginger, the only printing problems I know of were the very first run which resulted in extra pages in the books.  This also messed up the binding slightly as to produce a slight curve in the defective books (can only notice if you lay them down side-by-side with a good copy).

Are there other issues with the prints that I don't know about?

Typos/erratas... Good luck eliminating those.  I am convinced they are inherent to this type of work.  Not even Eagle-Eyes-Hena caught everything. :;):

Pictures - I agree that the quality of the pictures needs to be consistent on future publications.  For anyone coming into the discussion late, Raiders suffered a hard drive death that wiped out a lot of original photos.   :_(

Typos: I don't know if it's been spotted, but the credits page has 'email links' for you to click on... of course, in a book, that just means that they're nice blue words that say 'Click me for bob's email address...' :D

Mosc - you are correct that I was referring to the pages left 'intentionally' blank :p  - apparently resulting from the type of paper in use which seems to have a high level of static, causing the paper to stick together. I think this could be caused by the china clay content (which gives the paper it's glossy look) - hence the caution on the presentation. When we do another print run, it may be worth just checking this point with the printer to see if he can rectify it in good time to avoid the delivery stresses we experienced.

On the typo's etc, some of the font and page layouts have resulted in titles and pictures getting partially cropped - again cured by a slightly different layout etc. all of which may contribute to further subtle changes to the look and feel of the publication.

That said, I still maintain that the quality is totally astonishing for what is essentially an amateur production put together by an unpaid, virtual team of people from around the globe who have never met in person. So despite my caustic comments  :p I am still completely stunned by Raiders and suspect the awesome standard of quality will be hard to continue.

E&C, I managed to fix that email problem on the Firebase edition of Raiders along with a name I left off the credits and the erratas (like the Warp Beast speed).  I could have changed a whole bunch of stuff I suppose but I didn't want there to be a huge difference in the versions.

As far as the books go, however, I guess I'm just going to be stuck with having it look a bit silly on the Email Contacts.  To do a new pdf file will cost money for a new proof and I just don't want to deal with it right now.  Despite the lauders the book has received I've only received just over 80 orders which puts me below breaking even.  Once these next 25 copies sell it will turn a profit however.  Maybe at that time I could justify the extra $50 but for now I think Epic fans are used to erratas and goofy mistakes.

There is very little I can do about the printer's mistakes other than graciously take the free replacements.  It actually worked out great because I now have defective copies I can sell and generate more money from.  Sales from those have reached $110 which puts me MUCH closer to breaking even as well as offsetting the matte-gloss mistake I did with the covers initially. :vo

As for the formatting errors, I am working on a new solution.  I don't know if I'll get it in time for helping Ben out on Mossino but I am working on getting the InDesign software which will make putting these things together better and easier.  Cost is a big factor but I'm hoping I can snag the software on eBay for a discounted price.  I've been bidding on all of them but the bids keep going over what I'm willing to pay.  Say a prayer and hopefully I'll be able to win one of these auctions soon.

Mosc. If you're interested in a copy of PageMaker 7.0 (the "small business" version of InDesign) I could help you out.

My nephew took his copy to the local GW store. Apparently the staff was very impressed.

Also, has anyone else had a problem with pages coming out of their copy?
