Had first game with 3k Emperors Children. List was as previous post. Vs Orks Lost 3-1 in turn 3.

The only good thing I can say that I did was use the bikes to grab the blitz. Everything else went wrong. We do not play garrison on overwatch yet so my knights took a pounding from the big mob (only lost 2) but in following turn I had to decide whether to activate a retinue or the kinghts. Went with retinue and routed another big mob but in retailiation my knights got destroyed by sustained fire.

Painlord took a pounding against the great gargant but both managed to hold their own. A mech retinue managed to take down some shields and damage on gargant but not enough to BTS.

All in all, I like the disrupt ability on most weapons and feel there is a fair trade off between hard hitting and not so many numbers. They are or fourse marines and can take a hit (particularly my land raiders) but I just could not save the knights either by saves or invulnerables.

Enjoyable game nonetheless and good to see the orks that were pounded by guard utterly destroyed the slaaneshi. Oh, and got to use my defilers/debasers thanks Otter!

No pics as models were proxied until painted.

Thanks for the report, Knights either survive or die, 4+ saves are like that I find.

How did you find the Debaser?

Debaser was great - I took 3 of them I think and a dread in the retinue that garrisoned and they provoked the Ork player into hitting them with his ork mob in an attempt to take them out before his fightas came in. They did not survive for long but caused enough hits on the stompa mob to plague them in the remaining turns.

Think I'll drop the painlord for the reviler in the next battle and free up some points for another retinue or bikes.

I can understand why your opponent would with 225pts of AA added to a retinue, I assume that you garrisoned them.

Do you think that the number of added Defilers/Debasers (0-3) should be reduce to (0-1) or (0-2) or that the point cost for three is sufficient?

I think I would not spend 225pts on debasers again for 1 formation. Maybe in a unit of daemon engines but why is it 500pts for 6 when it should actually be 450 at 75 points each.

Will try out a formation of them in my next game. Might actually use 450pts as a base rather than 500. Meh.

Just read my reply and realised that it was not very good english so will try and be more literate. I think the points cost is just for their firepower in a retinue but maybe reduce them to max of 2 to avoid overspending. The extra points could be spent on a dread if required. With only 1 game under my belt using them I think it is too early to start thinking about points cost reductions although i stand by my 450 for an engine formation (or cheaper 400?)

Interesting.

I am a great fan of my Daemon Engine formation, 4 Defilers & 2 Debasers. These garrison in cover as close to the centre as they can and sit there on overwatch. Using the current stats for the defiler gives a great area denile formation which opponents are scared to attack. Good CC & FF plus extra attacks. I would say that 500pts for this formation, that's fearless, is sensible. I do have problems paying 400pts for 4 in the LatD list though.

I'll bow to your greater playing on this but would like to test the formation at 450. Is it only 1 garrison can O/W or all? It might then be a toss up between the defilers or daemon knights.

Up to 2 garrisons can be placed on Overwatch, funnily enough it's usually my Knight and Engines.  :whistle:
