Would it be possible to see closer images of each one?

Yes! But in the between-time, a close up of the whole thing.

I will definitely be interested in buying bunches of it.

Close up of some thingies inspired by the gauss turrets of Dawn of War.

Why are they in different orientations? Because some 3D printers have a different resolution in the Z axis; I am experimenting to see which orientation produces the best results.

Each hash mark is 1mm.

I'm concerned the various thingies will look boring in real life; more attractive models from the other races have panel lines, little extrusions, and so forth.

But then if we added a lot of that stuff, would it still look Necrony?

Optional tips for the ZERS curvey part. Once again, different orientations to explore the capabilities of the 3D printer.

Oh my all time dream, to lay my hands on a 3D printer....

They would eventually have to pry me off of it

Me too, wish I can have a 3D printer and the skill to use it. Doubt that is going to happen though ><"

I submitted a request for quotation to AcuCast for this stuff (while also doing the Armageddon enclosure quote), and it came to $100 US. So, I may chop out the bigger Summoning Core, which chews up a lot of volume for little detail.

Did you keep the summoning core?  I think it looks 'kewl'.

Yes. It turns out that I was 'wasting' about $40 worth of print because another piece wasn't SLA compliant. Once I fixed that, the cost came down and I decided to keep it.

So, we will have daddy-sized and Bella-sized summoning cores.

I just talked to the Acu-Cast guys. They're going to run the print in the Viper machine, and anticipate a ship date of tomorrow.

So, best case is receipt on Friday. Most probable is receipt on Monday. Added complication: I take care of Bella Friday through Sunday, but she may let me take pictures and post them. She's turned into quite the little computer hog, like daddy.

(Cross posting to both Necron scenery and Armageddon enclosure)

Acu-Cast called and said the prints were done. I requested 2nd day FedEx.

While playing Dawn of War last night, prior to Yen's visit (I'm such a geek!) I thought about how the inner green glow adds so much neat juice to the experience. But how to do such a thing with miniatures?

I combined my recent bad experience with Smooth-On 626 resin, brown dye, and Canucks-Fan's brilliant LED work (hee hee!) and thought of this:

Get Smooth-On 626 resin (it's the transparent kind).
Get Smooth-On green dye.
Mix the 'right amount' of green dye into the resin, enough for a transluscent green result
"Wire up" a mold with an LED.
Make the cast with the green tinted resin.
Paint the "stoney" sides dark grey.
Plug in, voila! An internal glow.

Like so:
