Game 1 vs Damian - Imperial Guard.

I've played Damian 3 times now. The first 2 were wins in my favor with the vast majority of the luck going my way. This game has truly restored the balance! I didn't win the initiative until the 4th turn when frankly it was really too late. I failed lots of activations, threw away the shining spears in a suicide assault and generally rolled lots of 1's and 2's. It was hard to make and real conclusions on the list from this game, but they certainly seemed to be the soap bubbles Jervis originally wanted the Eldar to be!

Game 2 vs Alan - Space Marines.

Alans marines had 3 or 4 tactical formations on the ground, no warhounds and one thunderhawk. The game was hard fought over 4 turns with neither side able to push for a victory. If I could have killed one land speeder I'd have won 2-0. When the points were calculated there was a difference of 75!
This game showed were the list excels. If you get to initiate an assault on your own terms it is brutal, but with a low model count your opponent can turn the tables on you.

Game 3 vs Chung - Space Marines

Chung was playing in his first epic tournament and unfortunately not even his 3 terminator formations could help win him the game. The assaults went my way even when they looked pretty even, and the Wraithlords used there cc prowess and hit and run to great effect. The game finished 3-0 to me.

Overall Impressions.

To be honest I didn't find the list overly powerful. It still had the limitations that Biel Tan lists have with respect to blast markers. The spirit formations are hard but costed to reflect this. Next time I use the list I'd be tempted to add wraithlords to the hosts to see if they cause a problem. The other thing I want to try is air dropping the wraithgaurd. Using gates is fine but more predictable for the enemy.

One question is do the spirit hosts really need the boost to initiative? I'm not up on th e fluff for Iyanden so don't know the reason behind this.

Overall I enjoyed playing the list and none of my opponents thought it worse than facing a "normal" Eldar army.

Thanks for the report, Mephiston!

The reason for the Initiative "boost" for the Spirit Warhosts is that, when lead by a Seer, the Wraith units are rather focused, so they do what's needed... without the boost... well, it would really suck having them stuck in the Webway all the time.  *laugh*

Mine still managed to wander out with a blast marker in the third game!
