It's true that the +1A MA on CC6+ units (jetbike and vyper) do not help much :/

Talking about conversion, how do you build Saim Hann chieftains ?
I was thinking about jetbikes and upper half of Banshees.

Is my reading comprehension failing me or are there no Vypers in the Wild Rider Clan
Warhost?

I am currently painting a few dozen SH jetbikes and Vypers and was thinking on how to arrange them into formations when this struck me:




A Wild Rider Clan Warhost consists of
one Wild Riders unit and six Jetbike
units.
Add 3 Jetbike units for +100 points or add 6 Jetbike units for +200 points
Add 3 Shining Spears units for +100 points
Add 1 Mounted Farseer character to a Jetbike or Vyper unit +50 points


It?s always "Jetbike units", never " or Vypers" except for in the Farseer upgrade which then couldn?t be applied to a Vyper as there are none ?:p

I assume this is an oversight and any and all jetbikes can be replaced with Vypers at no cost?


Also, how about the ability to add jetbikes/Vypers to mounted Guardians formations (as it is possible with Ulthw? Black Guardians) or mounted Aspects?

There should be a paragraph right below those options you listed saying any jetbike can be replaced by a Vyper.

Do you have the current version? Maybe it got corrupted in the download?

It's in the "Extras" section:

"Any number of Jetbike units in the formation may be replaced with Vypers at no additional points cost."

I've thought about it, but then it starts having as many options as a Warhost; I know it's just "tradition", but Troupes are usually more restricted in their choices... and, many people feel adding Jetbikes/Vypers to mounted Guardians is useless anyway, so is it necessary?  (Personally, I like the option, but is it needed?)

Dang, thought it read "non-toxic" on that red paint... ?:D


With regards to adding jetbikes to mounted Guardians/Aspects, a few Vypers would make for a nice shield in front of the Wave Serpents, though the added vulnerability to AP is something to ponder. Jetbikes would add FF firepower and also screen in an engagement.

That few/no add-ons to Troupes argument is quite valid, however. Still like the feel though...

How popular is the shining spear warhost? If it isn't that popular, you could demote it down to a troupe, then make the Guardian troupe into a warhost with expanded options.

Speaking of Shining Spears, how many models does the blister contain?

Online Store says "6 stands" and pictures 4 bases of 3, german online store doesn?t bother with clear wording at all and has "6 strips" with no further info.

I?m hoping for 6x3=18 individual models. Exact numbers would be appreciated so that I can plan...

It's six stands of three models each... and I don't think that includes the Exarchs.

The reason I'm not sure what's exactly in them, despite getting three packs, is that mine have always had six stands of Exarchs and a single stand of normal Shining Spears!

I've taken to clipping the "head gear" of the Exarchs to use them and basing two bikes to a base to stretch them out.

Probably just another blatant gimme-gimme...

Now that I understand that heavy weapon platforms will be added to the list of units that can be transported by wave serpents, any chance that you could throw in the ability of substituting up to 2 heavy weapon platforms for 2 guardian stands in the guardian troupe?

I know it isn't necessary, I just think it might bring the troupe more in line with the guardian warhost in other lists, without being too crazy.

If the Heavy Weapon Platform transport change is accepted, it will make it into the Saim Hann list as well in some form.

Just looked at this and do you intend to keep the Swords/Shields formations in here post review? Or should be go back to using Falcon, Fire prism and night spinner formations?

Where do you mount your 'Mounted Warlock" ? on a jetbike or on a Vyper ?

Due to the poor jetbike or Vyper CC6+, the +1EA/MA is quite useless.
So jetbike (save 5+ and infantry) or Vyper (save 4+ but light vehicle) ?


And, for maybe next review of Saim Hann list, a "jetbike mounted Warlock and Farseers" unit (with CC4+) could make a sexier unit than a jetbike unit + Warlock character ?

Possibly, but all said and done, getting only the Farseer/Warlock into CC while the rest of the formation FFs is an excellent way to get your character killed.
