Hello,
for 400 points, you get 2 very powerful titans:
-crappy template + holo field = hard to kill
-power laser, 4 dices of beamy goodness
-fast & agile

I think it's damn cheap and a bit overpored.
Make a duel with warhounds, they will alway loose, except if you equip them with 2 power saw :)

What do you think?

Hey Napalm.

I have had the same idea for some time. Back in the good old days All Titans were more expensive.

Then when it was changed and the cost was lowered. You had to pay for the weapons that you wanted the titan to be armed with. The Revenant cost was lowered from 600 to 400 / pair. The thing with the revenant was that the weapons are fixed so you cant change them and do not have to pay any extra for em.

Furthermore the power of the individual weapon was changed and instead of having two smaller pulse lasers (than the bigger eldar titans) it now has if I understand the rules correctly only one big pluse laser.

Before the two pulse lasers had something like 1D3 hits each and a range of 75 and a "tohit" of 3+ but now as I was saying its 1 Pulse laser has a 2+ "tohit" and 100 cm range.

I do not understand this. But well, we will see what the others feel about this subject.

I would suggest to go back to the old rule of 600/ pair and their old pulse lasers. I do believe that they are still very much worth the cost.

Thats my two cents anyways. Hope I didnt make a total fool outta myself.

//Peter

The Revenant titan in the Eldar NetEpic 5.0 book on www.netepic.org is all wrong.  Go to the NetEpic Yahoo group and download the latest version of the book for the correct version.  There are updated, corrected versions of most of the army books there.  I've asked the boss if he can get the ones on NetEpic.org replaced too.

Each Revenant is armed with a pair of Pulse LASERS with 75cm range, doing 1D3 hits on a 3+ (Just like a Scorpion SHT).

Heyas.

I checked it out and now it all looks alot better.

I see that they still cost 400 / pair. Is this the price that they are supposed to cost?

Thanks :)
I'm waiting for my account to be valided.
And yes, that would be a good idea to update the netepic.org ones.

Yup, 400 for the pair is correct. ?At 600 for the pair (with the proper weapons :) ) they were not worth taking...a Phantom was far better.

BTW - Warhounds with Quake cannon still own them  :p

Humm, the Scorpion tank at 250 is actually more expensive that a the scout titan..

In the last game I played against Eldars (few monthes ago, battle report is in the appropriate section), my opponent played them with the last profil but @600 points and they worth it!

In a Saim-Hann Eldar army, with 2 wind riders hosts (650 points instead of 1100 what a bargain), revenants are support cards. I know there's some restriction with Saim-Hann but...in a 5000 points game, a Saim-Hann player could field:

- 4 wind riders hosts (100 cavalry bases that can charge at 70cm) (2600)
- 8 revenant titans (1600)
- 1 archonte titan (~800)

That's a terrific army that would be really hard to handle for any opponent...If you propose to some AMTL player the opportunity to take some pair of warhounds @400 points each with the same weapons than revenant titan, you'll see a lot of them on battle fields, really ;)

For 650 I can get a Phantom with 2 Pulsars and 2 Barrage Missile wings.....I'd never pay 600 for a pair of Revenants :)

It is hard to do a direct comparison between Scout titans.  Should 2 Revenants be cheaper than 2 Subjagators or Questors....sometimes yes, sometimes no.  I can take a pair of Warhounds with a Quake and a Gatling Blaster each for 550.....no way a pair of Revenants at 600 is better than that.  Maybe they are a little cheap at 400, but a lot of other Eldar stuff got gimped, so the odd bargain is not a big deal.

That is a particularly evil army....but you can abuse just about any army list.  I could take an IG army that had 2 Artillery companies, 4 Rough Rider Companies, 2 Heavy Companies and change that would eat that Saim-Hann army...just as silly :)

Maybe 500 points for the pair would be a better cost for revenants ?

About the Saim-Hann wind riders hosts, taking full cost for this company is 3*200 for motojets + 2*250 for vyper, so 1100 points for the 5 equivalent support cards. Usually, company bargains are ~50-100 points, not 40%. I don't remember if any player already complained about this...

A very good point there Napalm.

Since the card is limited to the Saim-Hann dudes I guess the discount could be abit bigger than 50 or even 100 but, well as you put it 40% is quite alot.

The Vipers are not +3 in caf now, they are +1. Dont know if that is a factor, just thought Id mention that.

The card that everyone can but is Jetbike Host with 1 Viper squad and 2 Jetbike squads. Guess you should compare with that one.. That card has already a 100 pts discount which is alot. then you get another 1 squadron of each bikes costing 450 if you buy them as support cards but the  Jetbike Saim-Hann get them for an 100 add... Humm..

I wonder if the separate support cards costed that much in the good old days.. as 200/250..

/P

The Saim-Hann Wind Rider host is the same as the old SM2 Wind Rider host.  Everyone complained about that one, and with pretty good justification.  Now in NetEpic the Eldar only get the Jetbike Host with 2 Jetbike and 1 Vyper squads for 550.....and at the same time the Vyper has been smashed down to +1 CAF.  With the changed pinning,  firing into/out of combat, and titan rules the usefulness of all infantry and particularly "fast attack" cavalry has been dramatically reduced.  Fair to argue that the Eldar really got shafted (compare the Jetbike Host to a Rough Rider Company or Guild Bikers!).

Because Saim-Hann is the "fast attack" Craftworld they got the old Wind Rider host as their special...and the downside is they can only take 1 Phantom/Warlock and no Tempest Host.  I don't have a big problem with the Wild Rider host, but the downside is pretty weak IMO.  You could make the Wind Rider host Unique; make them take 1 Guardian and 1 Falcon host for every Wind Rider Host (like Knights) or perhaps ban Phantom/Warlock/SHTs and Defender Warhosts which would really hurt.

If it is a really big issue then just dont let your opponent play Saim-Hann.....

Hi Zap,

I'm OK with standard jetbike host price but cost reduction from the standard jetbike host to the Saim Hann one is too high..

- Could it be possible to give a try to 650 or 700 for the Saim Hann Wind Rider host ? It would be closer to what this card really can do (it's still a company card ).

- Will the revenants cost will be readjusted or will it stay at 400 points for a pair ?

Thanks for your replies and comments.

Well, for me with the last eldar army book, 400 points is ok for the revenant: reduced pulse laser are not as impressive as the old ones.

An eldar player can work around the negative aspects of the samm-hann by having 75% standard eldar list and 25% as samm-hann. That fixes most problems of what you can field right?

I agree about the "getting the shaft" business though and I feel abit sad about troops that cannot fire into CC.

I dont think the revenants will be adjusted.

/Pete
