so, there must be a reasonably large "blind spot" by their feet.

This is actually represented in the 40k rules, where weapons on the arm have a minimum "12 range, and carapace weapons have a minimum "24 range (IIRC).

That would equate to something like 10cm and 15cm minimum ranges.

I think the CC stat is abstracted to represent the enemy charging through the Titan's fire zone before they actually reach CC.

A 725 point warlord with 12 BP and 2 extra blast markers (or 9bp, 1 extra bm and a VMB) would be fine in my book :)

Sounds good to me, too. Also, don't forget about the extra barrage templates.

3 Rocket launcher Reaver could be good as well, cheaper and faster than the warlord.

I've used this one... it's worth its points, but not more than its 600pts, IMHO.

They step on you! :)

not if you are Luke Skywalker, armed with a lassoe and light sabre :p ?:D

Seriously though I would have thought that infantry could side-step a "tap-dancing" titan  . Probably true for any Light vehicle as well though tanks might find it a little harder.

As for ranges, we are thinking anything less than 5cms realistically speaking aren't we??

Dont battle titans also have point defense arrays to aid in CC and FF.  Just look at the titans in the E:A rulebook :)

Actually, thats a question- do carapace multi lasers point above or below the carapace?  I assume above at the moment for AA, but there could be reason to mount them downwards as improved anti infantry cover.  Or maybe its both and the AA/close range fire is merely an abstraction.

Also the discrepancy between CC and FF wont mean as much to a battle titan as if you stand in bolter reach to fire at them, well one long step and *squish*

I'd guess at it being this one.

----

Had a game vs Zombocom's Necrons tonight:

Warlord with 4x Missile Launchers - 750
Reaver with Turbolaser***, plasma blastgun, vulcan megabolter - 625
Reaver with Vortex Missile, Gatling Blaster, Lasburner - 675
Warhound Pack with 2x Inferno & 1x plasma blastgun, vulcan megabolter - 500
Warhound with 2x Turbolasers - 325
2x Thunderbolts - 150

*** I later realised this put me 25pts over the limit, so it should have been exchanged for a VMB or similar. I don't think its presence affected the game at all (It laid two hits in the game, both of which were saved).

Zombo tried holding everything but the Abatoir and a Pylon offboard until turn 3, and it nearly worked.

The game ended as a 2-1 victory for me on turn 4, but if it wasn't for a failed activation roll on Zombo's part (Abatoir to Engage the lasburner reaver in CC) he might have won the game. As it was his 2+ came up a 1 and the Reaver escaped from the clutches of the best CC unit in the entire game.

Greetings Evil and Chaos,

Quick question for you.

I'm not sure the points you listed for your Reaver with the vortex missile are correct..

Basic Reaver Chasis....600 pts
Vortex Missile ....100 pts
Gatling...free or 25 pts
Las Burner....free

That should total 700..or 725 pts depending on the gatling being free or 25 pts

Just wondering if I've missed a change in 3.08 points.

Regards

PlushWombat

Support missiles are going to 75pts a pop in the next version.

I forgot to tell anyone. :D

This game was assuming the gatling was free.

Well I played 2 games on the weekend using this list:
3.08
Warlord - Legate, Multilasers, Las Burner, 3xGatling Blaster
Reaver - Multilasers, Las Burner, Gatling Blaster, Plasma Destructor
Warhound - Inferno Gun, VMB
Ad. Mech Cruiser
Thunderbolts
Ordinatus Majoris - 2xVolcano Cannon
Ordinatus Minoris - Vortex Missile
Skitarii Quattro-Century

Both games were against a Minervan list (something like this):
Tank Company
Super-Heavy Company (Shadowswords)
Super-Heavy Company (Baneblades)
Artillery Platoon (Manticores)
Vulture Squadron
Super-Heavy Platoon (Shadowsword)
Deathstike Platoon
Flak Battery

Both games had a fairly similar feel and outcome. 1st game was 1-0 to Minervans (really a manufactured victory for the footsloggers), whilst the 2nd game was a resounding victory for the Titans.
The Titans spent the earlier turns killing the more threatening units (Shadowswords with Cruiser, Deathstikes/Vultures with Vortex missile) and then basically weathered the storm from the more conventional forces, whilst wearing them down.

Both my opponents were still devloping their skills but the Titans were formidable. We had decided to keep the armies we are using a secret until game-time (in the hope of using more balanced lists).

I like playing the Titan list as is (with the obvious continued tweaks as testing continues) and would definately not want to see the 40K weapon restrictions imposed on Epic games.

Support missile to 75pts - Oh Yeah!  :D

Interesting but has there been much testing with Barrage warhead loads?

If it turns out imbalanced, we'll soon notice. :

Don't worry, although to do so would be the easiest way to bring balance to the list, it would not be the best.

Path of least resistance and all that. :)

About dropping the range of the Turbolaser to 45cm because of Wh40k...you know that in Wh40k the Turbolaser has a range of 96"?
I can post all the stats of the Titanweapons here if anyone wishes.
