Ok,

So I am back from the Middle East and still have ten fingers and toes so all is well. I am on leave and making up for lost time working on terrain projects. The first of which is 6mm trench systems with bunkers. To that end my very talented mate Glynn and I have been busy today on the first project.

So this system is for use with any army and will hold a variety of stands. The first one has space for eight 10 x 40mm stands within the trench and the bunker central. So the trench is a double dogleg with a central bunker.

Base on glass

So the base is check plate plasticard, the sides of the trenches are corragated plasticard and the bunker itself is 3mm plasticard.

Starting construction

Taking shape

Ok so more, we have glued the base to the glass and have added the base terrain to work with adding texture with brushes and some rocks, craters, I beam and some destroyed trees for flavour.

The central bunker

Trench and bunker complete

Adding the base detail

And more

So finishing the base

So that is it for now, we have been working on the roof of the bunker which will be a separate piece from the base. More to follow on that one. So Monday Australian time will be the next post with the finished product for show and then casting the silicone mold and then production and painting.

Cheers, its nice to be back
Aaron

Looks great Aaron.  What putty did you use?  Does it come of the glass easily when you are done or do you leave it on for casting?

Hi Mark, it is clay, not putty, and it will be left on the glass as the master if Glynn needs to make a new mold in the future. Glynns business is resin and he is the talent, I am the ideas on this one. I have learnt alot from him and will be making the second trench this weekend and taking it out to Glynn's on Monday. Glynn has been my go to man for resin terrain for quite some time now. I was thinking of you the other day when looking around his shed in wonder, he has a great array a bases that I am looking at for our next project.

Cheers, and all kudos to Glynn
Aaron

G'day Mark. ?The 'putty' is, in fact, DAS air-drying clay. ?Once it is dried completely in a day or two, we will seal it with a coat of Dullcoat and then 'box' it with some plastic and then pour in the silicon for the mould. ?Hopefully when we pull the mould off the original about 24 hours after pouring, it will stay stuck to the glass and we can leave it that way to make other moulds in the future if needed (by that I mean if we wear out the first mould because all you blokes are buying heaps of them). ? ? ?:D

Cheers,

Glynn

Have you thought about mostly buried bunkers and foxhole style affairs (like in the GW book 15 hours which is the basis for my Siege set up).
