If you are going to go to the trouble of getting cholorform (I have about 400ml in my chemical cupboard) then you might as well chain him to a modelling station and make him work for you.

as per the text of the press release:

"The agreement does not include certain GW titles in which miniatures feature as the predominant component of
the game, such as Space Hulk and Blood Bowl."

So, no Space Hulk, Warhammer Quest, Blood Bowl. Although they are more or less boardgames, GW did not apparently relent, due to their being miniature dependent...and tied directly to the IP of WFB and WH40K.

That being said, FFG most certainly will not be picking up any SG titles. This move by GW is for pure financial gain, by licensing their boardgame, RPG and cardgame IP, they show a profit with no risk and no production costs, without letting go of their cash cows, WFB, WH40K and by extension their spinoffs at SG.

Those of you unfamiliar with FFG have to keep in mind that FFG already publishes or distributes several titles that compete directly with GW products, chief among them are Rackham's AT-43 and Confrontation, Decent, Doom and Runebound. They also have a decent track record for re-publishing long out of print GW games. If you've never done so, you should check out their profile at Boardgame Geek.

At present Epic fans will have to content themselves with DRM and what's left of SG...

"remember before WFB and WH40K, when GW published licensed games like Doctor Who and Rogue Trooper? It's like history moves in cycles or something..." LOL! I love and hate GW so much, it really is an addiction, no matter how long I spend in recovery, I long for that warm fuzzy blur when Epic was a core game.

The news about FFG & GW is very heartening, and it's interesting reading through this thread seeing the number of "GW will never liscence IP!" comments...

This gives me hope that it *could* happen - like several other people on here, I believe it is the best way forward for the Epic Gaming Community.

P.S.  Tom, cheers for the 'not-leaks' :p of the ships, they look fabulous! :D

P.P.S. For the record, I think Gav Thorpe's novels aren't too bad, 'Angels of Darkness' is one of the best 40k Novels, I liked parts of the Last Chancers Trilogy, though I must admit I've not read anything else by him.

P.P.P.S.  I believe that Alessio Cavatore was equally to blame for the latest Chaos Marine Codex, although aparently Jervis has said there is a larger plan for Chaos in 40k that involves not only the forthcoming Daemon book, but the original Traitor and god-specific legions.  He agrees not sharing this plan has not helped acceptance of the latest Codex.

P.P.P.P.S.  I really shouldn't be writing so coherently after all the Magners I've just drunk...
