Either something fast (That you can keep out of LOS) or something hard to kill (Such as a Baneblade, or a Leman Russ that hides at the back of a big Leman Russ formation). :)

As long as you obey the standard rules for how many commissars/commanders you get, you're largely unconstrained there.

Note that you can never have more than 1 commissar per formation.

ok, so i get a commisar for every 500 points i run? it would be good practice to include as many commisars as i legally can then? i only get one supreme commander right? i would put him in a super heavy, makes sense.

the minervan list doesnt have a set colroscheme right? i have a scheme in mind that im going to be using.

Yep.

Certainly! Commissars are awesome!

You get no supreme commander unless you specifically purchase one as an upgrade for your army.

Nope. They're meant to be an expeditionary type army as their home planet is peaceful, therefore their colours would depend on their theatre of war.

awesome, this sounds like a very fun army to play. im gonna wait a few months before i pick up models though, just use moscovian's models until gamesday. when gamesday comes ill pick up what i want. i plan on 3 of each super heavy tank, and a load of russes and some artillery.

i run alot of titans in 40k (suprisingly) so im going to go into tanks on this one, maybe a reaver or 2 later, but not until the tank comapny is up to a decent point level. it has always been my theory that an armored company shouldnt have a detachment of super heavies until they amass at least 3000 (40k points) of normal vehicles, so i have a long way to go. but i always liked big armies.

i like the hellhound in 40k alot, does it have the same sucesses as a troop killer in epic?

The Hellhound is an excelent infantry killer.

- At 30cm it has an Anti-Personell 3+ attack, which ignores cover.

- In a firefight it is rated 3+.

Essentially, it's a killer. :D

It?s an expensive and vulnerable Killer :;):

@studderingdave:
Just curious, did you write down a 3k Army list for Minervans while using upgrades? Would be nice to read it, because the low activation count always let me hesitate about using Hellhounds as an upgrade for my pretty expensive companies.

FYI we didn't play the Minervan list- we played the Steel Legion list and a pretty generic army at that.  2700 points, LR company, artillery company, reg HQ, infantry co w/ snipers, lone baneblade, lone shadowsword, Sentinels.

With that said, I think the Minervan list will be best suited for Dave just because he likes tanks - it is important to like your army. :p

As for the 1.7, I think the Demolisher change is a small but significant one - it is broken as it stands and not worth playing.  My personal preference is to leave the stats as they were and adjust the price as needed (see demolisher thread for reasoning behind that opinion).

MW 4+, ignore cover vs AP3+AT4+ ignore cover for the "Demolisher Cannon", which is found on the Russ, Vindicator, and Baneblade.

well this is just my (40k insoired ) opinion, so dont flame me for getting ideas from 40k, but the demo cannon is 40k is pretty brutal against everything. i dont run guard in 40k, but i do have a vindicator in my deathguard army. i would say the blast is equally as destructive to troops as it is vehicles.

against troops you get a str 10 shot that ignores all armor minus invulnerable ones.

against tanks you get a str 10 hit that rolls 2 dice and picks the highest for armor penertration, so your almost guaranteed to get something.

i think that since these examples show the versatility of the DC, the 4+ MW makes more sense to me.

The next minervan update will happen before Raiders is released, to get some playtest reports at the least!

To get back to topic I will post my army list which I will field against nasty Biel Tan Eldar an Thursday. Hopefully I can make a battle report and some pics at least. (Hey, the first time I field a completely painted Minervan army. Something to be proud, at least a litte bit :) )

So heres The list:

12th Isambar Armored Regiment, Task Force Golarian Fields

12th Isambar, Regimental HQ

Leman Russ Company:
SC "Colonel R. D. Renfield"
1 Salamander Command Vehicle "Cpt. F. Harris"
8 Leman Russ Battle Tanks
1 Leman Russ Experminator Battle Tank
1 Leman Russ Vanquisher Battle Tank
1 Hydra AA Tank
-------------------------------------------------------------- 775pts

12th Isambar, 1st Company "No Ground"

Leman Russ Company:
1 Salamander Command Vehicle "Cpt. G. Sewer"
7 Leman Russ Battle Tanks
3 Leman Russ Demolisher Battle Tank
1 Hydra AA Tank
-------------------------------------------------------------- 675pts

12th Isambar, 5th Company, 2nd SHPlatoon "No Remorse"

Shadowsword SHT
1 Shadowsword SHT
-------------------------------------------------------------- 200pts

12th Isambar, 9th Training-Company "Green but greedy"

Tank Platoon
6 Leman Russ Conqueror Battle Tanks
-------------------------------------------------------------- 300pts

12th Isambar, 9th Training-Company "Green but greedy"

Infantry Platoon
5 Chimera APC
2 Infantry Platoon (10 Stands)
-------------------------------------------------------------- 300pts

Schola Progenium 16th Training Regiment, 2nd Company

Storm Trooper Platoon
1 Storm Trooper Platoon (8 stands)
4 Valkyrie VTOL
-------------------------------------------------------------- 350pts

IN 116th Interceptor Squadron, 1st Flight

IN Thunderbolt Flight
2 Thunderbolt Fighter
-------------------------------------------------------------- 150pts

AM "Warhound" Class Scout Titan ?"Price of Victory"

Warhound Scout Titan
1 Warhound Scout Titan

-------------------------------------------------------------- 250pts
========================================

We will play with Demolisher AP3+/AT4+, Ignore cover.

I would like to field another IG formation, but the rules do not allow it.

You really have a problem with the support formation number. The Companies are good, but cost nearly half of the armies points. I only got 4 Support formation slots and a was forced to take a Warhound. I would like to field another Tank or Infantry Platoon or even some Vultures. (They are pretty exchangeable, because they all cost the same 300 pts)

Maybe we could talk about the Support slots? :;):

Soren
