Oh well, we have seen it all before, dissapearing for a period of time and then a resurgence at some stage. However I am glad that I have placed my orders to fill out my Blood Ravens Chapter. Ebay will continue to serve the comunity well and provide a source for all. US archive was a great place to shop in the last interlude, hopefully it will be again. And then there is always the very clever poepl present on this forum and other who have the talents to generate proxies and new miniatures to satify our needs. I will remain upbeat and see how things go.

Cheers
Aaron

As far as mini availability - eBay, Bartertown, here ... Proxies - DRM, E/W, and others ...  Frankly, I'm pretty excited about this Second option. :D

Even while they don't support EA they would view any fan driven effort more hostilely and set the "legal bar" much higher and in my view nitpick a lot more on it in order to stifle it on inception. NetEA due to GW's current circumstances will need to be VERY careful regarding GW's IP. They're feeling somewhat vulnerable due to their financial situation and I don't think they are feeling very "charitable" to the fan base right now.

It seems to me that this attitude (tightening monetary grasp at expense of fanbase), is the root cause of their financial trouble.

Hi!

Agreed. But they'd never admit nor accept that as the truth.

Hi!

Exodus Wars and DRM have a unique opportunity as standard bearers for 6mm sci-fi in this period of GW epic blackout.

I would recommend both to be aggressive and capitalize on this opportunity.

I do believe both Doug and Tom are, "P" !  They see the opportunity here, everything they make can be used with Epic, one way or another. With more to follow, including rule sets. And I'm very glad of it ! :)

Its not going to change what DRM are doing, but thats not to say its not going to be a benefit.

We're already flat out in production of new models, producing a new, highly refined, edition of the Rules PDF and producing an awful lot of background materials & Player aids among other projects.

The DRM 6mm game will be a fully rounded product within a few months, whether epic is alive or not - we may just benefit from the latter a little more, even if I will be sorely disappointed to see it go, as someone who still plays epic (whenever Doug's not looking.... :p )

Greetings all,

A question for the group....has anyone discussed the possibility of approaching GW and seeing if it would be possible to:

a) purchase the ownership rights to Epic

b) purchase a license to develop Epic

In regards to both, I have a feeling GW would say no, or name a figure so absurdly high that it would amount to saying no. ?

For what it is worth, my own feeling is that GW is done with Epic as we know it. ?

Taking a longer view, I think that they will try to capitalize on the popularity of Armageddon and will at some later date restart Epic...perhaps in 10mm or 15mm and would have no interest what-so-ever in talking to us about purchasing the rights.

Either way, the loyal Epic players reamain the loosers here.

On the other hand...if the impossible should happen, and they would say yes to such a proposal...I for one would be interested in contributing to make it happen.

Regards

PlushWombat

Not in quite such a direct way, but I did mention to Andy that a great solution would be to license the development of EA, I had Reapers CAV game in mind (Reaper have a contract with a fan site to produce background and suppliments, all rules are approved by Reaper, and they deal solely with miniatures).

He basically said that GW would never release IP control of their products in any way. I was not surprised.

I think that it is only a matter of time before 40K goes 40mm, but we are not far off in some models already.  :p

I was just e-talking to Doug, and I said it once and will say it again ... I think the DRM rules are better than E:A. But that is just my opinion. And as I said to Doug, I think 6mm Sci-fi has a good future, with or without G/W ... :)

Hi!

As mentioned GW would never license the epic IP. Until GW "croaks" and some other company takes over (or at least is major change in management) we'll never see proper epic support.
