Note that the product reductions they talk about there have already occured in the last couple of weeks.

I sure hope so, instead of them deciding to prune the store a bit more.

BFG was the hardest hit...

I wish that was the worst part. Don't check the Necromunda part of the online store much? They lost pretty much everything apart from the starter gang boxes.

...losing five ship types.

Five? You mean twelve. Iconoclasts, cobras, brute ramships, all three tau escorts, nicassar dhows, both necron escorts, all three space marine escorts (which you can luckily get from forge world, they even look better). The "bits rearrangement" basically removed every single component-type from the store, even those that were complete miniatures, like the escorts. Just blisters and boxes left. Which luckily includes the epic stuff.

Mechanicus battleships are still there, though (UK store). And that "generic" ork battleship actually contains parts for all four battleships, so you can construct any one of them. (And still have extra parts left over to convert your own hammer class from a kill kroozer or whatever.)

Whilst Necromunda has been mostly rationalised into the gang boxes, most of the models are still available.

The BFG ships have simply been withdrawn.

Most of them available, where? The Escher consisted of 20 different miniatures, now there's only the gang box of eight in there. Granted, the other gangs had fewer different sculpts, but apart from that, same thing. Delaque and Cawdor 17, Van Saar 14. Now eight for each, with no heavy weapons apart from the stubber. Spyrers are just gone. If most of them are still available, I'd genuinely like to know where.

I am really, really, really hating GW right now.

"If hate were people, I'd be China!"

Well, I guess there is Dark Realm Miniatures and others. I had some tax money that I was going to put into a fat SG purchase but no longer.  For what its worth I actually think Epic may make a comeback, but it won't be for years.  Sometime after 2010 a genius at GW will say, "Hey, we've got these great moulds in 6mm, I bet we can re-market these as a mini-Apocalypse game!  The battles will be epic in proportion to the regular battles- Say, EPIC has a nice ring to it.  I wonder if anyone thought of this before..."

Hi!

Since I like predicion, I'll make one of my own.

No epic what so ever available from GW by 2009.

Let's see how accurate I am.... :;):

I hope you're wrong, Primarch, but I have a awful feeling you won't be.

I know it would be harder to recruit new players, but I really do wish GW would axe Epic so that we could establish NetE:A without the worry of causing a schism.

I'll go further and say "No SG whatsoever available by 2009" along with an announced "restructuring period" for SG.

I'm at a complete loss at what they are thinking but they seem to be on a mission to cut everything but the very highest margin products.

Most of the main ganger miniatures are still available. The 8 pictured for each gang box are a random selection, and you recieve 8 random miniatures from the full selection when purchasing a gang box.

I believe the older versions of updated gangs such as goliaths, redemptionists and orlocks are also lost to us, but all 20 escher models are still available, it's just a lucky dip to get them.

Spyrer Yelds appear to be gone completely though, along with scavvy dogs and a few special characters.

Losing the option to buy models individually also hurts a lot for necro.

I am increasingly thinking, it's time to get well clear of this SG shipwreck.

Hi!

Agreed. Time to move the flag to another ship.....  :;):

Without minis, it gets a lot harder to get new players into fold. Well have to see how it pans out.

Does anyone else remember Rick & Andy saying that these restructuring shouldn't have any bearing on SG .

Hi!

Its in the same group as Jervis promising getting a full epic line available, even a limited run for beetlebacks....

..... so much for promises....  :glare:

Hi!

I think those who are waiting for SG to officially "die" may not have to wait.

I think Net:EA and those who support it are being proved right day by day with these GW decisions.

Is anyone else feeling like the Tournaments are going to be the place where the final news of Specialist Games being closed will be given?

It will be a lot like the Horus Heresy when the Warmaster was holding the news conference with the civilians onboard his ship right before he (SPOILER ALERT) had them gunned down.

Hi!

Touche!

I believe you will be proven correct.

As someone on another forum said about this topic...

..."this is the beginning of the end of an era"....

What will come of this is anyones guess, but it won't be the same "GW hobby" you got into.  :(

Hi!

You may be right.

GW NEVER makes "official" statements regarding "killing" lines of. It just happens and more unofficial routes dish out the news.

So either sales reps, distributors or people at tournaments will "break the news".

I don't think it will occur at a tournament, but rather the tournament gets canceled because of SG closing. Of course, that doesn't stop us from organizing our own tourneys.  :;):
