Lets not get our knickers in a knot. His comments were second hand and vague.

If there is some sort of official announcement then its worth getting excited about.

Agreed. This is a very general announcement with no specifics or even hinting at exactly what is 'in the future'. We have heard this before, and while I believe in JJ's good intentions, I think that his Standard Bearer articles show that GW bosses control things quite tightly.

I have lost count of the number of times that we have heard how the 'future of Epic is exciting' and that there are great things on the horizon.

Yes, yes, I'm with the "Don't get too excited, we've heard this type of "propaganda" many times before" faction ...         I don't know which is a bigger "what if" ... G/W-F/W releases "new" Epic models(not counting AI), O/C does 6mm Slammers or I get back to being "friends" with that little brunette gymnastics instructor from my old gym ...  All are Million-to-one shot IMO ... :( And a Billion to one of all 3 happening ! :(    So I'm putting my $/? on DRM and E/W ... again !  :;):

Hi!

It's just an "off hand" comment.

The epic community is so starved for support that even saying the word "epic" gets people excited.

Epic will be supported when GW lowers their prices.....

... or hell freezes over, which is more likely..... :;):

Sounds great... but as always when dealing with GW I want to see it in the online store before I believe it...

After my experience with BFG Endeavour cruisers with Voss Prows, I would believe it when actually in Taccomms members hands. This is because the BFG Endeavour cruisers were actually posted up on the Online Store although unable to order them as were out of stock.

Cheers

James

Figures in the online stores and several refreshes to  check it's not a mirage.

Then I'll believe it actually means something worthwhile.

Meanwhile, Black Industries bites the dust:
Goodbye Talisman  :(  :(  :(
Ironically, the site sub-header says "The future of games"... ???

This appears just another GW related mis-management. Looking through the news items...

- 40K roleplay book sold out on pre-orders alone, and no more available.

- 40K roleplay limited edition sold out (200 copies in 6 minutes!)

- more GW speak about how cancelling products and making the popular ones no longer available is in some way good for the customers. So, they are concentrating on 40K and WHFB novels... dont the Black Library do that?

For example...

As a result of the continued and impressive success of our core novels business, which we have built around 40K and Warhammer, we have decided to focus all of our efforts on growing this part of our business.

Black Industries has seen fantastic success, most recently with Talisman and Dark Heresy.

OK, so, they have done really well with Talisman and Dark Heresy and this has allowed them to drop this kind of product and concentrate on books, which are already the domain of another wing of GW which is longer established.

Am I just being a bit slow here, or does this not make sense?

*sigh*

1)  I don't believe it.

2)  Even if something does happen, I still won't believe it.

3)  Even if something really major happens (like the rumored spinoff of SG), I will only believe it after at least 1 full year of support, and probably not until 2-3 years.

I'm glad to hear that Jervis feels Epic needs more support, but I ain't holding my breath.

Jervis can have all the good intentions he wants, I wont be holding my breath.  In fact something official and half assed would be bad news for E:A.  I can easily imagine GW releasing an "updated" rule book that, compared to the excellent work the community has done, could easily be rather half baked.

If JJ really wants to see E:A survive I think the best thing he could do is to re-engage with the community and rules review process and take on board some of the great work thats been done on these boards.

Warning: lots of assumptions.

So, how many boxes of Tyranid plastics would you buy? Me, probably 4 or 5. Or should I go long-view and get 10?

A slight bit more info:

'He said that he wanted Epic to get more attention but nothing gauranteed in the short term.'
