Apocalypse should only be used in the loosest of manners for looking at stats.

Many of them, like the Hierodules, are abstracted in order to make 'mega battles' run faster.

The expensive tape measure and dice are actually packs (for retailers) of 8 or 10 of each item. ?If you go to the UK site

Apocalyse

click on the item your interested in then you can find out whata is in it. ?
The Emperor's Fist Tank Company is 10 Leman Russ tanks for $275. ?10 Russ would run you $400 so I'm amazed that GW is selling anything retail for that steep a discount.
Or the Space Marine Battle Company which is "1 Space Marine Commander, 5 Command Squad Space Marines, 6 (10-man) Tactical Squads, 2 (10-man) Assault Squads, 2 (10-man) Devastator Squads, 1 Razorback, 8 Rhinos and 1 Vehicle Command frame. For a total of 106 Marines and 9 Vehicles." for $450 which runs about $730 normally.
And my favorite the Eldar Wind Rider Host - 1 metal Autarch on Jetbike, 9 Eldar Jetbikes and 2 Vyper Jetbikes for 125. ?10 bikes and 2 vipers cost $210 so it's nice to see a discount somewhere. ?Problem is that it has to be in the above100 dollar range items. ?Figures that you have to spend 125 to save 90 but at least it is something. ?
I figure they want Apocalyse to do well enough that after you have enough vehicles you'll have to buy those troops ect at regular price. ?Plus, not to mention that now your buying plastics and they are VERY cheap to make compared to metal so there is another place they are making money. ?Any..that's my 2 cents worth...aren't you glad it wasn't a quarter.

Welcome to the boards LordNurgle - er - are you really grandfather Nurgle?  ???  :p

The way you put it, the pricing is generous - although (again) as you say, they are mostly plastics after all, and once you have the tooling costs out of the way it gets cheaper. Pity they don;t offer free storage space as well.. ah well.

I wouldn't mind a dollar's worth, actually.

Cool beans. I hope that the vehicles rules will be better than what in 4th. I can cause a crew stunned or shaken by spitting @ a tank in 4th, or immobilize it by throwing pebles @ it.

IMHO 4th ed vehicle rules sucked and took out the fun of fielding tanks. More points sink than an army asset.

In the datasheeds they say that you have to look upo the stats in the Imperal Armour books.

But mass points are no longer in the nid rules (they have buffed toughness and wounds) so the IA:4 rules will be out of date and wrong.

Heh, that is what they call "GW Quality". But hopefully they give new shiny datasheets to those underpowered FW beasties too in some distant future.

By the way, I happened to look at baneblades stats in Apocalypse and then saw same unit in Epic... Am I only one who now sees Baneblade itchy-bitchy undergunned in Epic? I would give Baneblade a MW attack, and NOT just because Apocalypse, my main reason is that why Baneblade has same main cannon that three times smaller Leman Russ? Just a suggestion, I dont play with IG so I dont have strong mental connection with them either. :)

I'm pretty sure others have mentioned it, too, even before the release of Apoc.

Yes. A number of solutions have been proposed to give the Baneblade some more teeth. Not sure which idea has gathered the most wide acceptance.

The most widely accepted upgunned baneblade stats give it:

Baneblade Cannon - 75cm - AP3+ / AT3+
Demolisher Cannon - 30cm - MW4+
2x Lascannon - 45cm - AT5+
3x Twin Heavy Bolter - 30cm - AP4+

Which is essentially just WYSIWYG, and adopting the new Demolisher cannon stats.

[Heh, that is what they call "GW Quality".

More GW quailty include the discription of a slaaneshi daemon princes army.  That consists of a single keeper of secrets and the rest being made up of Khorne and Nurgle daemons.

You know, foot soldiers of the god slaanesh hates and the god that is all goey and unpretty.

What?  you expect gw stuff to make sense?

Some of the stuff I do like from the book (since it's sitting in front of me):  the Battle Formations rule/idea:  If you field this formation, the entire formation gets some benefits (varies by unit, but anything from extra 'Strategic Assets' to unit special rules).  Bring a whole company of marines and you can get a 'free' orbital bombardment?

the tank formations that can all pick on ONE target to remove it from the table (Linebreaker squadron is actually 3+ Vindies).  They've added a Land Speeder 'forward observer' to a Whirlwind formation, which lets the whirlies re-roll the scatter die AND gives unlimited range.  Earthshaker formations get spotting rounds, (auto-hit the same spot, or shoot another spotting round).

Oh, the Baneblade model is pretty nice.  goes together VERY well, and includes the heavy flamers and hellhammer cannon.  doesn't have the Command Sprue, oddly enough, but does have the IG vehicle sprue.

The Linebreaker squadron (the ONE box just about every 40k marine player will buy) also has the Chaos accessory sprue in it.

The rules aren't bad, and they do seem to push for much more of playing for fun, not to win, but ... it still strikes me as 'meh'. I bought the book more as a reference to help with E:A development than anything else.

The expensive tape measure...

I was only half joking with this comment.

More specifically,

Demolisher cannon
Twin linked assault cannon
2 * Twin linked heavy flamer (that is, a total of 8 nozzles)
