This is a file that is intended for me, so encoded - check the equation to find out what it should be!

Well, you know, they do have those great whomping big tanks on the outside of the Inferno Guns full of fuel which are like a good 10-20 feet tall and 40 feet long!

Those are the tanks for doing the plasma/air mix :)

Ah, that was the Battle Titan weapon, hadn't looked at scout titan weapons yet :)

The comparison is with the 3bp MRL.
45cm/Ignore cover doesn't work as that means a Reaver can move one range band faster than the MRl and hit targets in cover (where infantry often are) just as well at +5cm range. And if it does sustain it is better at hitting.

Plus with the elastic range of epic and a landing pad 90cm for the gun looks a little much :)

Yeah, 45cm is definitely too long. I was thinking it was for the Warhound weapon! Bad me!

For the non-warhounds, 30cm with Ignore Cover and Disrupt seems good to me. MW might fit, but I'd rather leave the MW BP attack in the Support weapons, so as both to give the Quake Cannon its own unique purpose in the list and to avoid a perception of too much MW in the list over-all!

But I agree, 45cm would be too long for them most likely. I'd definitely rather see them lose 30cm range and pick up Disrupt and Ignore Cover compared to the MRL then the current loosing 30cm range and picking up 1BP and Ignore Cover. Just encourages using single Inferno Guns as an anti-personal weapon (Heck, with those stats I'd take them over VMBs most of the time, too! 2 templates and hitting on 4+/5+ against everything under them is pretty good!)

I like the flamer template on the Warhound. IMO it should stay.

I agree. I think the flamer template is both neat and unique, sets the inferno gun on the Warhound apart from any other weapon in the list and from most weapons in any list. But as things stand the stats for the warhound inferno gun just aren't worth it. You'll do better under almost any situation with the Vulcan Megabolter, to be entirely honest, due to a combination of longer range and better hit values.

Considering it is a range 20 odd weapon AP2+/AT6+ IC as suggested by BL seems a good starting point, since you will be doubling to get there!

PLus you can say fluff wise the Warhound reactor isn't as controled so the blast is more diffuse etc etc to explain the better Ap and worse AT

I'd probably go with AP 3+/AT 6+, IC, Disrupt or something like that. Giant flamethrowers really seem to deserve disrupt (I mean, can you really imagine people hanging around, armor or not, while they're being bathed in plasmatic flames? I know I'd certainly want to clear out! And the resulting damage to their surroundings would most likely throw the group into disarray). Maybe AP 3+/AT 5+, like the VMB, given that it's got less then half the range the VMB does and is dependent on its template to hit more then one model. You could claim its better to-hit numbers then the 'heavier' inferno guns is because the Warhounds fire the plasma more directly at their targets while the larger titans fire it in more of an arc. Longer range, more of a 'splash' effect, but less concentrated.

But yeah, AP 2+/AT 6+, Ignore Cover seems like a pretty good starting point to me!

A slightly changed file (nothing major) and fresh thread can be found here.
