Hi!
I know we have made many arguments one way or another, but my initial hesitancy was, as I suspect is happening, that Jervis will do "nothing" about it. Why should he? The actual rules are pretty much done so I dont think it will rank high in priority for "things to do" for Jervis.
In the end the REAL culprit was the poor policy of assigning moderatorship to a "number" (ie. highest amount of posts) instead of an individual suited for the job.
Frankly its too late in the game for those with the power to change things to care enough to do it. It stinks, I know, but reality is seldom pretty.
Let the petition stand and lets see how long it gets, but let's not be too disappointed with nothing happens.

Just out of curiousity, what was Jervis response Maksim? I never heard anything from it.

I think Primarchs right on this. With the rules increasingly 'set in stone' Jervis is less and less active on the board and it ceases to sevre the same role as it did early on when our feedback really made a difference. One of the driving forces for participating on EA playtest board for me was the privelege of helping to shape the next edition of rules for our fravourite hobby. I'm not saying that the board is completely defunct but since opening to the public and the neccessary introduction of a moderator it is beginning to resemble the othe GW boards.

I personally would say it's a fine balance of dancing with the enemy with your small foramtions playing with him until the right time arises to unleash your sledge hammer formations in a hard and fast co-ordinated assault to shatter as part of the enemy line.

That basically has been the plan of every Commander since groups of men evolved into formations of troops ... the art and science of warfare ... some are better at it than others. Rommel & Patton - good at it. S. Hussain - bad at it. However, the mechanics of the rule system makes this possible ... or not.

Hmmm... That's odd... P/G seems to be ...well... gone! If you look at the Playtesters Forum all posts by him is now signed N/A and he doesn't appear in the members section any longer either.

From PG:
Effective immediately I will be stepping down as moderator of this messageboard.
Moderating the Playtester Fourm has been, to say the least, an interesting experience but it has started to take up more time than I currently have available and I am very hard-pressed to find time for other projects that, at the moment, have a higher priority.
Consequently I feel it necessary to commit what time I do have available to those other projects and leave the moderation of the Fourm in Jervis and Keith's capable hands. I've discussed this with Jervis and he has agreed with this decision.
I'd like to thank Jervis and Keith for their support and advice over the last few months.

I dont know whether this is a result of the 'bad press' or real commitments. Whatever, I must admit that I think that PG showed maturity and responsibility, and I admire him for this.

I agree that freedom of speech was limited on the Epic Playtesters board, and now that PG has stepped down, I think it will become more open.
However, as there has now been a rules lockdown, what is the need for a playtesters board? Whatever is said will make no difference, unless it is in a rules annual, which won't be produced for AT LEAST a year.
I think the Playtesters forum will dissapear very soon after the games release.
With all this said, I too admire PG, the way he graciously stepped down without a blaze of controversy, which wouldn't have suprised anyone if he had stepped down when all the polls for moderator changes were around.
However, I believe what he has said should be taken with a pinch of salt, perhaps it is just a coverup story devised by him and Jervis....
Cheers
Chris
