technicaly 0.75 should be Ok
you just have to make some parts and cutouts a little smaller

mdf would be perfect ok
but you might have troubles with working on such small parts - i dont know as ive newer worked with mdf

Ok so continuation
Lets work on the corps of Defiler
first we need to round and flatten it to something like that
(how much flat and round you want depends on personal preference)

make sides of the front more cut in than middle part to better cannon ornament presentation

now for ornament itself
as its cheap and easy version
we are using wehicle sprue skull

we need to cut it in half in such way to make it fit the front of the hull

cut to white line and then remove exces to blue one with file
try to fit it to hull, it dont have to be perfect but if it stick too much it looks weird

now we have this:

now make some canon barrel (i used some spear or halaberd from bitsy box but anything is ok as long as its round )
also glue two shoulder mounts ive made from red tube

i use plug from superglue tubes
but i dont know how they plug it where you live
if yu have problem with this part just make it from plasticard and file it to round shape from front and up sides
(hole is not nessesary it just make it look little cooler)

no back again to spider legs
we make their armour now

start with plasticard of width 1-1,5 mm less than middle part of the leg you armouring

now cut 3 elements from it, 2 similar around 3 mm
and 1 - 2mm

now tricky part, cut edge of it at around 45 degrees

now glue smaller part to a central part of the leg like that
(thinner part down)

now glue bigger plates to each side

they should be glued to leg at the joint with smaller part and free at the opposite end

it will make cool 3d efect on the armour

repeat 3 times to get this:

sorry for any typos as i am half asleep

more to come...

Defilers are doable in 10 min a piece

and dont involve heavy curing any big plastic elements like rhinos (which is pain and can caouse pain to your fingers :>
