I recently trialled a Slaaneshi major power army against the Tau, and fully expected their scout titans and knights to get smashed. ?As it panned out the Tau had an infantry/flyer army and the Slaaneshi stuff lasted somewhat better than i thought. ?However, we did get to discuss how the Slaanesh major power list is somewhat weaker than the other 3. ?No Greater Daemon/War Engine like the others and no special Warlord variant, and the really "great" (read monumentally suck-full) Altar of Slaanesh as their only war engine ?:p. ?Given the old fluff, I wondered if their Knights shouldn't be formed into household (company) cards to mimic the Imperial Knights. ?Perhaps 2 detachments of Hell Scourge/Hell Knights lead by one Subjagator/Questor for 900 points or something like that. ?(designed to make it also relatively easy to collect).

Also noting the total absence of Superheavies in the Chaos list, the suggestion was that the Warp Palace should probably be Superheavy, and I think there was something else as well.....OzT, JW?

I think we were talking about letting Chaos Renegades have access to limited numbers of Imperial Superheavies.

We also talked about giving Chaos Marines access to the Hunter AA unit and the Renegades access to the PDF's AA unit.

Hi!

True. They have always been underpowered. I like the super heavy suggestion for the paalce.

Juffo-Wup suggestions are good as well.

Perhaps Fulgrims power should be beefed up too.

Fulgrim is probably one of the weakest of the GDs, and it probably wouldn't be a game breaker to increase the range of his special to 25cms, but I'm not sure that'd be a huge improvement for Slaanesh. ?I just looked at their Knights which are all less durable, shorter ranged and effectively lower CAF than the Imperial Knights; yet only come in detachment sized units and are generally more expensive. ?They do have the Glamor which helps, and some impressive short ranged firepower, so the cost isn't that big a deal, but a larger formation would make them more useable. ?It would also give Slaanesh a signature Company to differentiate them.

I'd love to model the Altar of Slaanesh but it's such a terrible unit I've not bothered. ?To make a useful change, just make it that the Altar of Slaanesh player can choose any one of those effects each turn rather than it being a random event.  Also make it a Greater Deamon. ?Still a dud unit, but you get some Chaos Rewards and it shouldn't kill your own stuff too often :)

For the Chaos Renegades, they should have access to Super Heavies i the same way that the PDF do.  They can have a few, but not many so its not game-breaking.

Make it a GD, Super Heavy & you can choose which power you use each turn but you can't use the same power two turns in a row.  More reliable but with a touch of Chaos thrown in.

Yeah, that'd work.

I also noticed that Fulgrim used to force the enemy units to take a moral check "at -2", which seems to have dissappeared between ver4.1 and 5.0, so he probably should be a little better anyway.

I also noted that the option that got the most votes for the effect of "Glamor of Slaanesh" was "fixed 5+ (or worse) to hit", not the old and current -1 to hit :)

I like that idea.

Yay!

Also noted that the Firelord was officially a Superheavy when first released (been reading old rules for the flyer debate :) )
