I'm not sure 'saulties are as good as Tacticals in a FF - far less firepower that's for sure

Raptors have option of 3 not 2 special weapons (one more than assault marines), have Dameonic Dread and Fall Back special rules, so the better FF is justified.

They have to get better in CC not FF. They are specialized troops with the order to hack down the enemy wherever they see them. They are not on the battlefield to give 4+ FF hits (and this will be their duty if you raise FF)
Maybe we should give CC4+ +1 extra attack a try. The chance for a hit raises fom 66% to approximately 75%?? . Not bad I think.

I'd support that. Its more in line with thow they should be in terms of the background as well i think.

@Dobbsy: Giving the Assault marines the MW CC4+ attack, would make them a bid like the speeders (which have FF5+ MW but come in 5 for 200 and have scout, are faster and scimmer but LV).
The +1 CC extra attack (with CC-stat 4+) make them fast moving striking scorpions, sounds interesting. We should try that. Cost question: 4 for 175 or 200?

Yes it does, but it's the chance for at least on hit per unit. With a chance of 25% you get 2 hits. (Good dice roling could lead to devastating effects).

4 for 200pts sounds good.
Will the CSM Raptors gain the same boost? (ans drop FF4+ top FF5+)? They are essentially the same.

They have one special weapon more, so leave them FF4+ with no extra attack. my suggestion.

The assault marine costs would also depend on wether using them with drop pods (if this would be allowed).
I would give the Raptors the same values. Because they are made for close combat (despite of any weapon options in other games).
We also need the see which unit is a CC specialist and which is not. As I remember assault marines, raptors and ork storm troopers are not CC specialist. they are used against ranged weapon units and loose against CC specialist. Specialists would be Striking Scorpions, Howling Banshies, Ork Nobs, Dreadnoughts, Khorne Berserkers and Possessed Marines... On the opposing side to this background is the value/use of the unit in the game. And the assault marines are not quite usable as they are just now. (And FF is most of the time superior to CC).
