Those seem like very good ideas Hena. The inititative idea is particularly interesting to me at least, as it is already an established system for initiative. The only thing now is to test it and see how it functions in regards to the New-Nid-System (the NNS :D )

Another great Batrep!

All of these 8.1 batreps appear to have been fun and close even though the bugs have failed to win yet.

One thing Hena - you mention failing 2 3+ initiative tests so presumably you played with a 2+ initiative as standard rather than the 1+ which Chroma had intended (the pdf is to be corrected at some point I understand).

Any reason why or was this an oversight?

Okay - that will teach me for skim reading :)

I have been mulling over your comments about the hold issue.

How about this......if the swarm fails to activate or is in a mindless state then it can only marshall or engage?

This would allow the Hive Mind a chance to reconnect with a swarm by removing some BMs and therefore allow some swarms to contest objectives after a successful marshall.

The exception is clearly a LSN led swarm which is always in a mindless state so would not gain by marshalling.

Thoughts?

While an interesting idea, I think giving the Bugs an "engage" on a Hold action is going to be a bit much.  Usually, they will have failed an activation to get there, and it'll often have been "engage", so there's no real penalty in failing.

I've based the "mindless/instinctive" choice of "Hold" on the 40k Tyranid options of "Move" or "Lurk" (stand still and shoot) when they get out of Synapse range.

I know you don't like the Tyranids to be "too shooty" Hena, but, well, they are a *bit* shooty.  *laugh*
