the former is more durable, but the later looks better in my experience.

I have mixed 50/50 flock with fine sand to create a nice textured base for all my epic.

The larger models may also get patches of static grass

Well I snapped a quick shot of my WIP Gargant...it was a bits model, so some parts weren't there, the Feets were not there so i figured since i had a Mega gargant or 2 that were just bits models i cut the tracks off and slapped them on

Still gettign use to photographing minis...they be hard images to shoot.
Also took a quick snap of the Kitchen table currently covered in a small portion of my collection....if i had a current live in Girlfriend I would probably be a dead man

Ikea storage boxes and a cubby hole under the stairs- they be the key to managing a healthy GF/GW balance :)

Loving the look of the Gargant BTW.

That Gargant is one of my all-time favorite Epic models. It's looking good so far.

Rectangle bases for my 'regimented' AM.  I bought up a pile of square bases on ebay but after a good look at them I decided rectangles were better in looks and ease.  They turn up on ebay every so often too.

I think I just have enough rectangle bases for my AM infantry, so I'm using 25mm round game counters from EM4 for Xlan, Nids, or whatever other 'unregimented' army I decide on.  And 20x40 warmaster-sized counters for large infantry and character units.

Do you think flocked with fine Ballast and then painted and dry brushed looks better

Yup.  For durability I do the usual coat with PVA and dip in sand, then when it's relatively dry, mix some watery PVA and give it a generous wash.

I've also tried Coat D'Arms brushscape paint with small infantry, since the sand I usually base with isn't the finest, and sometimes threatens to swamp the minis.  I found the grains in brushscape aren't much smaller, but since I don't mind wasting a little time I had the advantage of pushing them about with a brush and spacing them a little.

And what're you talking about?  That's one of the tidiest tables I've seen...

The Ikea Boxes are a good Idea...my Real hope is to Move From Vancouver, Back to my Home town of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, If i can swing that I can easily afford to Rent a house, and then I can have a Room, Or Basement dedicated to the Hobby.
After having my car keyed when i went to the mall (all over a parking spot to boot, talk about pathetic) my spending on Minis is going to be on hold for a bit. Yet another reason to move, in a City of 2 million you will never know who did it...in a city of 85000 you will be able to find out....then you can extract some good old Natural justice, No killing, but a boot to the bean bag and a punch in the throat

Got Board yesterday and went to the local hobby shop and spotted a cheap 1/72 t34/76 tank, came with 2 tanks actually...then I got thinking....I should make a capitol Imperialis...So after about 6 hours with a dremel and some plastic card I came up with this

I put the Colossus there for some scale, honestly I think it is about right, not to huge, and not to Small. I am modifying a Rhino Door for the Back and I am going to have to put an order in for some of those brass eagle sheets from Forge world and find some cupola turrets to mount up front to give it some extra Armorment.

It got me thinking on the Squat colossus, Cyclops and leviathian....I Honestly don't think they are big enough themselves. I think then need to be just a touch bigger, so I might deconstruct the one I am painting and go a little bonzai after I Finish the Capitol.

Thats a good idea, and i may grab a few bits, but i want to avoid making it look "gothic" :) I am sorta going for the look the MK3 titans have, the Lucius pattern

Looks great!
I'd probably modify the gun barrel to a more "Heroic 6mm" size using some plastic tube.

Wow, nice job on your scratchbuilt CI. I'll agree that the Squat superheavies (well, actually most superheavies) aren't big enough, but we all know that epic has never been completely in scale with itself.

Thanks, I am trying to figure out how i want to build the turret. I think it looks out of place. Maybe i should change the front corners to angles in stead of straight edges
