To be honest they don't look any worse than much of the stuff I've seen from FW. I'm not impressed with FW in general I'm afraid.

Their consistency is quite poor. When they do something well (e.g. 28mm Krieg grenadiers) they do it extraordinarily well. When poor (e.g. 6mm stormblade) it can be as bad as the stuff I give away for free.

I am not that impressed with FW in general either.  Some things are brilitant, ie the new Chaos Ogrins and are perfect casts but then some things are so poorly cast they are barely usable and they still send them out to you.  Recently I phoned up to get replacements for broken EA Grey Knights, got told I would be sent replacements rushed off the phone but nothing ever got sent out to me.  In my most recent order I only got 5 of 10 Eldar BFG fighters in a pack (making each one worth more than a beer) and I was missing an entire pack of Tau sentry things that I wanted to use as heavy drones in EA.  Leaving me with a very expensive and still incomplete army that I don't want to paint untill everything has arrived.

In the past they have sorted out issues that I have had but it has often taken months of emails.

Generally a phone call, getting a reference number and if nessecery an email has sorted it.

however these tales of epic woe are worrying - at which point do they decide its too much hassle?

As noted elsewhere, FW does seem to have some variable quality with regard to the resin filling the mold and occasionally issues with tired molds....but these show significant faults with the molds themselves and I've never seen that on FW products.  Pretty much a clear case of knockoffs.....the "remodelled" bit in the Ebay add does seem to be a bit fishy and I doubt the seller expected them to be stripped.   However, the Ebay seller may be an innocent party.....maybe.

The guy has some new auctions up:

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZrichar ... artQQhtZ-1

3 Milkfloats , 6 Baneblads and 5 Mekboy Gargants among other things. Taking a closer look at the Slasha Gargants in particular it looks like the rivets have air bubbles in them which sure as hell doesn't happen on GW metal casts!
Pick them up if you want some cheap stuff to fill your ranks but don't pay too much and don't expect the quality to be particularly good.
Right now I'm just wondering if I should write to the guy or be a Cad and contact GW's attack lawyers straight away...

Don't buy'm ! I think this guy is a bit of a "flim-flam man" ! :O ?And F/Ws castings sometimes are "hit or Miss" ! Everybody said all the problems with their Baneblades and Shadowsword models. The ones I got years ago (SIB) ... need a little work ... F/W = fragile, must be cleaned very well before painting, "iffy" moldings, expensive, and the dust is toxic ... And we buy this stuff because ? ????

:D  Yeah when you put it like that...  I'd already decided to avoid FW whenever possible.

I avoid Forgeworld for their blatant rip-off "no we dont remove the 15% VAT for foreign buyers because we want everyone to pay the same price" BS.  They do have some fantastic master makers I must admit, but execution and business ethics leave something to be desired.

I recommend just sitting back and let GW do their own work. It's nice for someone so blatant, foolish, and greedy to act as a distraction for the lawyers.

Forgeworld:
well a Forgeworld Tau fleet is cheaper then a SG Tau fleet:

SG Tau Explorer battleship: 18 pound (225pts in game)
FW Tau Custodian battleship: 16 pound (310-345pts in game)

SG Tau Hero cruisers: 18 pound (180 pts in game)
FW Tau Protector cruiser 16 pound (FOR TWO!) (180-190pts in game)

SG Tau Merchant cruiser: 18 pound (105-120 pts in game)
FW Tau Emissary cruiser: 14 pound (FOR TWO!)(120-130 pts in game)

In general the quality was not bad but I found it strange that even the same model was different. One Emissary was quite bad on the prow but the other was good. Same order...

The seller might not know they are knock-offs. ?I've had it happen with Man-O-War ships, where there was lots of little "beads" of metal in various nooks and crannies. ?I'd paid a pretty penny for them as well, so I was quite ticked off.

I contacted the seller and he was very surprised, he'd gotten them, and various other OOP GW items at a used game swap meet that was held monthly at one of his local hobby shops. ?He was really embarrassed by the whole situation and refunded all my money and let me keep the models (which I destroyed and tossed in the trash).

I would recommend communicating first and escalation if that doesn't work out.

As well, can you compare the resin of the models in question with any other FW items you might have?

Well I've got plenty of other FW things but none of the titans (which whould probably be the best basis for a comparison) But if anyone here has an unbuilt FW reaver they could snap a couple of pics of then that'd be a great help. :)
