And the collection.  Still showing 'battle damage' from the move (loose crystals, missing infantry).  Time to dispatch the Tomb Spyders... :p

The War Barque is an excellent piece of scratchbuilding.  Outstanding.

That is a seriously large collection of Chaos Androids.....that must have hurt.

Thanks for the compliments.  The Warbarque will be much easier to duplicate now that I know the end product will come out decent enough.  The landing gear, top gun, and gun barrels are easy enough to put together.  And the Smooth-On resin worked like a charm.  The mold is holding up quite well and could probably churn out another half dozen or so before it splits.  (Don't worry, Otterman, I haven't forgotten yours!)

It took a long time to accumulate enough Chaos Androids for the task.  Many eBay auctions where I just sucked it up and paid upwards of $2.00 per stand  :confuse: or bought entire Chaos sprues just to glean a few androids off of them.

Pipboy supplied me with the armor itself (Obelisks, Monoliths, etc.) in the raw.  While they still required some work, having to not build those from scratch cut a lot of time out of the task.  If I can ever get a hold of the man, I'd like to put his Necron building process into our new supplement modeling section.

The big pieces were fun.  The Warbarque and Aeonic Orb of course.  The Abbatoir was my personal favorite but seemed to leave most people flat. :(

So the Necrons will be shelved for some time while I get together enough material.  The to-do list is still pretty extensive:

2 more Monoliths
6 stands of Flayed Ones
1 more Warbarque
1 Grand Warbarque (details to come... just my own tinkering - it isn't anything from Corey's list).

------------

This weekend I managed to clean up my hobby table and get all the materials out for the Dark Eldar project.  Having worked on the army list for the last 1 1/2 years I felt remiss in my duties as a developer were I not to get them done this summer.

Charad has done a tremendous job on his models and I will be including much of his work on our Epic supplement modeling section.  So my goal on this particular project will be to actually build models the way he built them, take more pictures, take notes of the materials, modify the instructions if needed, etc.  If I can follow his lead, anyone can. :)

There are going to be some differences.  I had built my Tormentor before he built his, so I will most likely not go back and rebuild the piece.  It is the only Dark Eldar model I have finished.

The next in line will be the Executor.  I had just started the project before we moved and would like to resume it.  Besides, Charad is building his as well, so it will be nice to compare and contrast them as the days go by.

Starting tomorrow I will probably begin a new thread with some pictures.  Until then...

Do you use Ease Release? I have found that it at least doubles the lifespan of molds.

I have not... Is it a SmoothOn product?  If not, do you have a link?

Looking great there moscovian, although the first time I read your post I read Warbarque as War-b-que which leads to a whole different meaning :p

L4, I know it seems strange to be so focused on these darker armies, especially in light of some of our other conversations. ???

But there is a bigger reason for these two armies to be completed.  The big project is really Epic: Raiders.  This fan produced supplement will include both these army lists and will pit them both against the Imperial Guard Tallarn Armored Regiment... and each other.  The storyline is being written as we speak (Necron champ Corey is working on the bulk of it) and the modeling notes are being collected.  The pictures of the models are obviously a big part of any supplement so I would like to give people an opportunity to build these armies as easy as possible.
