Well....the ImperialGuard isn't an elite force as the SpaceMarines are :p That was the point of my first argument.

and also in 40K space marines are the main "learner" army, they have been desined to be easy to play with, in Epic they are often one of the hardest armys to use.

Something else - if you up CC values, drop firepower units in epic become one dimensional, fine in 40k where the one dimension is the game, but crap in Epic where there is a lot more to it.

Yes the idea of named weapons having the same stats is very annoying.

I think any attempt to justify the discrepancy is going to sound really contrived.

Just keep to the facts when explaining to beginners ? when Epic Armageddon was created the 40k squads could have two assault cannons, and the Epic stats reflect that.

Not seen the DA codex but can they take Cyclone missile launchers as well as an assault cannon still? So 2 heavy weapons still?

no, only one Terminator can take a Cyclone missile lancher or can replace his strom bolter with a heavy flamer or assault cannon :) .

Keep it as it is. Not every fart done by the 40k crew should shuffle the whole EA army-list system. Else we will never get the experimental lists done.

my 0,002 cents

Leave 'em alone.  The mechanics are balanced.  Invent a justification or just ignore it.

Yep, but then you're living in the past...

It's just a small example, but I thought it worth highlighting.

leaving things are is certainly the way of least effort!

Yes, yes it is.

Man, we have lists for Squats for this game.

Two assault cannons are the least of our worries on that front.

I know that Codex forces normally have 1 specialist/heavy weapon per 5 men, but the rules for it only appear in Codex: Dark Angels and not Codex: Space Marine.  So maybe it is for Deathwing that they only get the single Assault Cannon, while standard marines get 2.

According to the BloodAngels rumours the DA changes (CombatSquads, 1 HeavyWeapon per TerminatorSquad, etc) will be introduced for the BA too.
In the next WD issues there will be the new rules for the BA.
