Is this cool site dead?
I use it a lot for inspiration, along with Warmaster's Nice Lounge.
Is there another site like this?

I have a pretty big webspace offered by my ISP (10 gigs), and i was wondering if it would be interesting to make something like this.

Hmmm... I can't remember what happened after Stormseer went to Uni. Didn't someboduy else take over the role as curator of the Gallery? I can't remember who it was though...

Anyway: Another gallery site would be great though. De Aynes has a problem with very slow load speeds so it would be cool to have something on a faster server.

Oh yeah, somebody else was going to take over as curator, but for the life of me I can't remember who.

DeAynes isn't dead - it is however lacking a curator at the moment.

We not only need a new curator, but it could also do with some expansion :).

And it needs an easier structure. There are just too many categories than required.

The issue with the structure is the sheer amount of photos we have on there.

Hence it has a heavily categorised structure - any ideas as to a better way of handling it would be appreciated though :D.

I'd drop a layer of clicks, probably the types of units for each army, in favour of sub-titles with link lists below, similar to how scales are seperated on my site's galleries.

So you'd click on an army, and have headings of "Super Heavy", "Vehicles", "Light vehicles" etc & have the unit's links listed under that. It saves one level of "clicking & Back'ing".

Just a thought. I realise however that at the moment its automated as it is wihtout headings, so that's probably a huge amount of work & thus not plausible.

At any rate, the De'Aynes has certainly grown into an immense resource from humble beginings - would be great to see it being updated once again!

I am offering my webspace for use if anyone is interested:

www.thousand-sons.co.uk

I am running my own VPS so I have a lot of space.

I have still to get time to take my own pics but i have a gallery section in place and the means to make a nice user-friendly interface if anyone wants to email me pics of their models.

It's certainly plausable, i've been coding a ton of scripts for EW recently, that I could easily pass on to the EPICentre.

It will be a good test of just how scaleable the new EW gallery really is :S. DeAynes is immense!

The only thing is that my new Gallery script is rather ugly at the mo, (the output rather - the code is beautiful) so it would need tinkering with to make it prettier. That is just a case of collaborating with the curator though.

Being a custom written script, it is fully modular and done in CSS so we can easily move bits around if needed. When we get a new curator i'll sit down with him and sort out a spanking new layout. We've used a free gallery for too long now, it is time the EPICentre had another revamp and everything got integrated.

I have some more work to do on EW, but when we have our big website launch and it's all automated i'll move back onto sorting out the EPICentre.

I'll get a wish list arranged with Primarch when we next speak, in the mean time... if anyone has any suggestions... let me know.

We could do with a curator if you fancied applying? :D

Custom script - fully automated, just needs someone to be a caretaker.

Actually - while i'm thinking about it, it would be really easy to add an RSS feed for all new entries so people could easily find updates to the gallery... that would save a ton of time doing DeAynes updates...
