Hello!  :)

I've reached a point in my hobby life where I realise that the over-whelming majority of the armies I'd like to make are for Epic.  I already have two that are painted and Tournament ready - Iron Hands Space Marines and Imperial Guard.  But, not only do I plan to expand these, I have many other armies which are in storage, in various states of completion (i.e. assembled or still in boxes).

I figure I've probably got 10 years worth of stuff*, at the very least - but this doesn't intimidate me, oh no!  :confuse: Rather, I'm going to focus on an army at a time, getting each one finished before going to the next.  Here are some of the armies I'm going to do in future:

- AMTL (5,000 points)
- Orks (standard, Speed Freeks & OGBM - >8,000 points)
- Tyranids (asuming they get re-released by GW at all...)
- Two Space Marine armies (a Drop themed force from the Fire Storm Chapter, and a 'standard' Marine army of another DIY Chapter, Marines Inivigilant)

But what I'm currently working on is lots of Chaos.  Lots, and lots, of Chaos     When I'm finished, I should have 6 Chaos Marine armies  :O and 2 L&tD armies - each of 3,000-3,500 points.

I've already made a start on one of these - Iron Warriors (which you'll most likely have seen) - which is still in progress; but having just splurged ?200 on Epic I'm starting on these others.  Here are the other Chaos Armies:
- Emperor's Children
- World Eater's
- Death Guard
- Thousand Sons
- Legion of Taurus (a DIY traitor legion, put together using the basic Black Legion Epic list, with a slightly Khornate flavour)

Anyway, on to the pictures - here are some Emperor's Children detachments (I'm using the list Lord I & others have been working on):

(Emperor's Children Retinue with Lord converted from Marine Chaplain with Green Stuff whip)

(Another Retinue, lead by a Sorceror)

(Noise Marine Havocs)

There'll be plenty of Deamons in this army - here's a Greater one:

I've also got a detachment of Chosen, but I'm working on a Daemon Prince conversion - should have it finished in the next couple of days.

Finally, here's a WIP of some other Legion Specific Traitor Marines - can you tell what it is yet?

Tonight I have some Iron Warriors Rhino's to finish converting - more pics tomorrow!

*Of course, this is assuming I don't get a hankering to do any other armies on top of these.  Yeah, I thought it unlikely too - ha!

My personal preference is NOT for the Chaos armies. They give me the creeps, really.  With that said, I love looking at other people's Chaos armies and think your conversions are nicely done so far.  Can't wait to see more!  :)

I admire your ambition, Firestorm. I'll be even more impressed if you can stick to it.  :D  I've noticed that it's easier to stay focused if you think in terms of painting for tourney purposes.

Interesting. One rarely seems stands with more than 5 models. More often with 4 models (as that is now allowed in the rules).

That's what I was thinking too. I guess if you have the money and time...  :glare:

Thanks, guys! :) ?I just thought, 'why keep starting a new thread each time a do an army/conversion, when I can just lump it in one. :;):

You're right about focus, DS - I'll try to stick to getting a tourney-sized force in each army complete before moving to the next. ?Also, I plan to be assembling/converting an army whilst I'm painting the previous - that cycle should help to stick to an army, rather than picking up each piecemeal.

At the moment, yes I've got quite a bit of spare time - we're all sat otherwise twiddling our thumbs waiting for this darn move to France to go through :meh: ?- and I do realise that once we get there I'll have less time (especially with baby due in 2 months! :O ). ?If I can get started on the bulk of an army, get things ready to paint, then I find it's a case of doing the little that you can as often as you can e.g. if you can meet a target of, say, painting 1-2 units of infantry a night, you can get there eventually. ?That's why I know I'm in this for the long haul!

@ Hena: these Emperor's Children are based 6 to a stand for purely fluff reasons; 6 being the sacred number of Slaanesh. ?I've decided to base all the infantry in my four armies of the Major Chaos powers because - hey! - they're the Legions of the Four Major Chaos Powers, ha! and I want them to look suitably Grandoise. ?To be honest, I think they're a bit of an indulgence really as they'll never be 'official' in one sense; but there are lists out there for them, and the temptation to make them was too great...

@Otterman: you know, dang it, you're right, they do look like pursed-lips. ?I hope this is not so the case when they're finished and painted  ?Any other guesses as to what they're going to be?

Here's what I've been doing the last couple of evenings:

- Completed the Iron Warriors Rhino Conversions (simple but effective, I guess):

- Completed the Slaaneshi Daemon Prince - here are three views so you can see the components:

Seeing as no one could tell what my putty bodge-job Marines were meant to be from the last pic :D , here they are after a bit more work - and some important pustules and scurvy applied to the bases:

These started out as test stands for Death Guard, I'm pleased with them thus far - they still need a fair bit of work, plus another 15 units of these to convert.

And whilst we're on the theme of all things pestilent, foetid and decaying, here's a Greater Daemon of Nurgle:

Over the weekend I'd like to make a start on painting the Iron Warriors Rhinos; I'll probably get side tracked by loads of converting before then!

Thanks for looking :)

I noticed this too! Good man! Can't really push that far for the other marked legions, but EC should definately be 6 to a stand ?:D

To be honest, I think they're a bit of an indulgence really as they'll never be 'official' in one sense; but there are lists out there for them, and the temptation to make them was too great...

In what sense? They're in the vault now, I would hope one day for them to be "official". ?A lot of playtesting before that day, however.

Incidentally, could you send me (or post) pictures of your Drop Fortress and perhaps any other Inquisition units you have painted?

And my guess is Plague Marines.

Excellent stuff. That Daemon Prince is wicked! And I love the Chaplain with whip idea. I think I might have to borrow that for my own EC command units. The plague marines are coming along nicely too. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

Very cool. From what are the tiny skulls you used for your Rhino conversions?
