It's a new "Super Harridan" in the Tyranid list.

And it *rocks*!  I finally used one in a battle last night!

Finished the Malefactors and also did a quick test assembly for the Exocrine. As you can see it is pretty huge compared to the old version - about the size of a Hierodule but I do like the design a lot. Also in NetEpic the Exocrine is listed in the Tank section rather than the Artillery section so I don't mind it looking a bit well armoured.
Lastly a size comparison: Assault spawns, Hierodules, Hydraphant. The Hierophant will be based on the Tyranid Warrior body but with some serious modifications for a more "Spidery" appearance.

I was thinking the same thing when I started these. However since I wanted to redo all the Nid tanks I needed a standard size body for the stuff smaller than Hierodules (Assault spawn) so I decided to use the Warriors for Hierodules and Gaunts for the smaller stuff (Including the Trygon BTW)
There's a different problem with the Gaunts int hat their legs are very long so it is difficult to make them look "heavy" enough to make passable tank sized creatures.

The "Exocrines" would make good Heirodules....pretty huge for a normal "tank" though.

I love you, man! :D  That exocrine looks the business!

There's a different problem with the Gaunts int hat their legs are very long so it is difficult to make them look "heavy" enough to make passable tank sized creatures.

A few judicious cuts should help in removing sections of the legs without leaving the remainder stumpy or too ill-fitting.  It still means some putty work, though.

Well not a hell of a lot of progress singe the last update. I did make a single Venomfex (Regardless if they're going to remain in the list or not) and also did a bit more work on the Exocrines. I've also been tinkering a bit with a FW style Hierophant but I can't quite make it work...
Other news: I've got the parts for the Vituperator. A Glalrauch Chaos dragon tail, Red Terror body, Dominatrix head. I'm going to try and enlarge the Morathi Pegasus wings with greenstuff to make them suitable for the model. I figure a singe cm on each wing will do the trick. Werther or not I can pull it of is a different matter altogether :p
Also I got some Broodlord bodies for my Dactylis. Smaller than the Tyrant Guard these look pretty good for the job. Just waiting for some Genestealer Scything talons to arrive from Ebay. :;):

While you're kit-bashing, you might want to have a look at

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/ ... sSeries=26

(The Starship Troopers 28mm line. ?Too bad they're not doing 6/8mm! ?But they do post their components online...)

It's funny how many similarities there are with WH40k, up to the point that the "Skinnies" have a suspiciously pointy helm!  But the "bugs" are buggier.
