Some roundabouts in the UK are sponsored by local companies for their upkeep with nicely mown grass or lots of flowers.

Not that different than the Adopt a Highway program in the US.  Organizations "adopt" a stretch of road and keep it clean, but they don't mow or anything else, just pick up litter.

I'd have thought most roads wouldn't have needed mowing, unless the US is far behind what I thought!  :D
