Thanks.
Initialy I didn't wanted to put banner poles on the grey knights, but they're so tiny and fragile (2 poles arrived broken...) that i've re-enforced their long swords with some pva glue and put the banner pole to manipulate them.

When I first saw the 'old-style' square bases, that's what I assumed the poles were for - handling. Is that not the case?

Yep, I had some breakage of my G/Kgts in shipment too.  So that is why I considered the banner poles also. You can do the same with the long bases, just drill a hole and some S/glue ! :)  I'll try the PVA glue for the weapons too. Thanks ! I've said it before, F/W's detail is great, but they should design things a little more durable for gaming use ... :)

No, they were banner poles. The square bases that came with SM1 had only one base in four had a hole for the banner pole. When SM2 came out, all bases had a hole for it. I'm not sure why GW made the change.
