Quick query over the Chaos list and how to build the Armies.
According to the main rules you cannot take support cards for a company card from another list. (pg 7 in the Net Epic v5 rules)
Now as the Chaos book lists three separate types of Lists
Standard
Demon
Chaos Marine
this would seem to limit the support card options for Companys taken under one of those lists.
If you take a Death guard legions (with a Demon power army) for example you can only take the support cards listed under the Nurgle power.
I know that I can take my forces across a couple of those lists but this wouldn't break the rules about what support cards you can take. I would have to take Standard Chaos list Company card (e.g Beastman Horde) to take any of the Chaos marine style support cards for Powers based armies.
Also the Dreadclaw Shuttle only appears on the Standard list so the Chaos Legions wouldn't be able to take it under their companies.
This distinction is enhanced by the fact that a number of units are replicated under both the Chaos marine list and standard chaos list.
If this is not supposed to be the case perhaps that the wording can be altered.
Set the Forces out not as Seperate Army lists but as different pools to choose from with your 50%/75%.
You get to pick from "Standard units" or "Standard+ Powers" or "Standard+Chaos Legions" and you get to take "standard" support cards under either the "Powers" or "Marines" but not vice versa
Does that make sense?
Hi!
First off I am interpreting in light of the 5.0 rules, which have the army composition on page 3-4 (not 7).
According to the 5.0 rules if you make a chaos renegade army, 50% comes from the standard chaos list (all list are named at the book's end to avoid confusion). The rest of the points can come from any other army list except SM and eldar.
The renegade list represents the utmost in player selection and freedom of composition.
If you wish to make an army dedicated to a particular chaos power, then 75% must be taken from that powers list or the standard chaos list. The remainder is from any list except SM and eldar.
This list is more stringent but still offers good customization.
The chaos marine list must take one chaos legion list, units from the chaos marine lists (generic marine units for chaos) and the chaos standard list. NO units from outside those mentioned.
This is the most stringent army list.
