well if there's going to be an under 5 category, I better get Joshua (my son who will be one next week) upto scratch on the painting lark...

though I have a feeling he will only eat the paintbrushes and dribble over the models... now's there a concept a Nurgle tank covered in slime!

If the red ones go fasta, I wonder what the pink ones do?

Painting... hmm sometimes it's relaxing (as a break from studying neurology etc), sometimes it's a real chore -especially when I am painting other peoples stuff which I do a lot of. ?However, as I now have lots of my own stuff painted, I can add bits in a relaxed fashion and enjoy it, rather than frantically trying to paint up masses of core units. ?

I also agree with Tuffy - mostly it really is just advanced colouring in! Plus with epic you really can get some great looking armies with very simple and quick techniques.

As to the girlfriend, she's one of the most hostile to wargaming girls I've ever met, but she seems to be mellowing... with several things convincing her...

1. Like people have said, girls prefer wargaming to hobbies like drinking and whoring.
2. I'm there and she can talk to me when I'm painting.
3. It can generate money... like this year I payed for my airfares for a trip to Egypt by painting.

...In fact, she actually painted a 40k genestealer (white and pink mind you) last month... a real progression in working thru her anti-wargaming issues I think ?:;):

Hi!

Ah, perhaps some more females may be enticed into wargaming one its "kinky-slaanesh" side is revealed....

Either that or they'll slap you silly..... :p

Hello all !
It's my first post on this forum (but i've been reading you all for some time and some of you have read me on the playtesting forum)...
I can't realy tell about wife and children and such since i only got back to the hobby recently and in fact had just start assembling my new epic army... but my wife certainly look at me like if i came fromanother galaxy when she saw that i was actually adding small modification (tabards on every single marine i do) to 6mm minis...
It's certainly harder to find some time to model/paint now, with a 2 month and an half child and a wife...

I'll tell you more about this and may post pics if i have not lost too much skill being "off-hobby" for about 7 years... If any of the painter kind of hobbyist can tell me if they have such experience of becoming somewhat of a "good" painter (i'm not talking about GD standart), then phased out of the whole thing and came back many years later... Did you lose lots of "skills" or not ?

Ah, i will answer the original topic ! i actually love painting, it has always be the main part of the hobby for me, since i never had lots of opponents. I played SM2/TL and Space hulk quite a lot a long time ago, tho.

:O ?Wow! A modification to _every_ marine?

Methinks someone has caught the dreaded "Tuffskull Syndrome"... :p

BTW, just for us non-English speakers, what is a tabard?

It's certainly harder to find some time to model/paint now, with a two-month-old, a stepchild, and a wife...

Wait until the second one comes around... :;):

Welcome aboard! And feel free to post any pictures you like! Any minis you do can't be worse than the ones painted by me!

Hi mate, welcome to the forums, hope you have fun- we all get on well and have a great time!

-Pics? Yes please! ...It is always good to see other people's work, and your marines sound very ineresting...

Oh, and Mojarn- a tabard is a kinda vest-like thing; medievil knights would wear them over their chainmail for example.....
-Hope that helped... :)

Cheers,

Think of what the Sisters of Battle wear over their armour, or what some of the Dark Angels or Black Templers wear over their armour.

As for doing this to every marine, that would drive me nuts.

You are, since females are actually daemonettes. First they look good, then you are in a world of hurt.  :p
