Peter has been a 6mm envangelist for a long time, and has become infamous for resetting famous battles, on a one-to-one relationship in 6mm (very impressive at shows with big tables) and then giving exactly how much the entire force would cost in 28mm in a banner.  :D

An entertaining evangelist too!  :D

As for the 1:1 in numbers battles, I'd love to see that. In fact, I'm giving it a sort of try, to a somewhat limited extent .... Peter knows about this by now unless his inbox is full!  :blues:

While I have no interest in scales other than 6mm, I have been open minded enough to try something different.
I can certainly accept that others find them interesting.

'The desire to accurately portray historical uniforms ends at 15mm.'
- 'To say that a 6mm. is more than a marker, a minimalist representation is pushing it.'

Clearly they people have never seen the like of minis produce by Warmaster Nice, Tuffskull, & Charad.

Frequently I find reading other peoples opinions to be like watching a pack of drunken monkeys retch.  Horrifying, but almost impossible not to steal a glance now and then.

He does have a point.  However, for reinforced company-level battles, I really like 15mm (FoW).  It's large enough that you can still paint good detail (my 15mm troops are painted to the same standard as my 28s), but small enough that you can field an entire force 1:1.

I can't paint 6mm to my level of satisfaction yet (and STRONGLY dislike playing with unpainted models).

Yes but scale suffers at 15mm for movement and range if you play at 1 model one man. Unless you have a big table I guess. :)

Hell its damn hard to fight modern at 6mm - thats what 2mm was invented for!

6mm is the scale for me, its the compromise I can accept for realism, paints well enough, is cheap etc.

I am certainly not one of the ace painters out there and once you learn contrast and impact are your friends you never leave 6mm.

Well, when i start to go blind, thats when i leave. :)

Indeed I am considering selling my 40k stocks of models. I just find it very hard to sell stuff, even if I will never actually need 600 marines (I was given a lot by friends okay!).

I think my plan is now to make all my 40k board games with every model they could need (does space hulk need 200 genestealers?), prob keep the 'guard as generic human troops are always handy and try to part with the rest.

To each his own, but I really can't understand those people saying 6mm minis are too small to paint/see properly. So far I have had no problems and have certainly not gone blind. So what's the problem those "marker" goons have? Unless, of course, Finns have superior eyesight.  :p  But I doubt it.
