You mean killing 3 groups of 3 Tyranid Warriors and a Lesser Synapse Node is more difficult than killing a single Dominatrix...  those are both 500 points of Synapse...  :laugh:

No, I literally mean that killing 3 Warriors stands is harder than killing a Dominatrix.

My warrior groups almost always survive battles, often intact.

My Dominatrix almost never survives.


That's one reason why I think the Dominatrix is overpriced. Your opponent only needs to manuever so the Dominatrix is the closest WE in the formation and then unleash... she dies soon. :(

Sorry E&C, I understood what you meant, I was just making a joke based on points values.

I agree that three Warriors are harder to kill than almost every other Synapse choice, I believe it's mainly due to the fact that they are INF and are able to spawn cheap Common Brood units to shield themselves most of the time.

Just make some synapse point system for everyone and calculate them..
For example:
Dominatrix 8
Hive tyrant 2
Warriors 1
etc...

That's basically introducing a whole extra points system... unneeded in my opinion, when there are a couple of pre-existing systems that could be used.

Tyranid list is full of those points that need calculations already, and those simple calculations doesn't make it harder to use. Just giving more sense that dominatrix is more important synapse than stand of warriors.

Even being a big Tyranid player, I'm fine with the full "unit" count method, counting full war engine DC as number of units, so a, current, Dominatrix would be worth 8 "dead Synapse".  In fact, that's how we've always played in in my local group, and playing this way has nothing to do with why I don't tend to take a Dominatrix, as my opponents have learned to hammer on Tyranid Warriors to get BTS.  I don't take her because I'd rather have 4-5 Synapse activations for 500 points rather than 1.

Thinking plausibly, the death of a Dominatrix *would* be a "Break Their Spirit" moment for a Tyranid invasion as she'd probably be the mother/controller for all local forces; unless you've got a lot of other Synapse creatures, this would be a serious blow to the Bugs and full DC easily represents that.

Frankly, killing a Dominatrix should go a long way towards taking the BTS goal from a Swarm.

Just like anyone else with a big Titan or Gargant: it's almost always BTS.

If playing 3000 points, you've still got 500 points more of Synapse you can use: 3 Warrior Groups and a Lesser Node means they still haven't achieved BTS if they kill the Dominatrix.

Plus if the Dominatrix is being revised to be WYSIWYG, a points nudge downwards wouldn't be out of the question IMHO.

Why round down?  Surely a Harridan should be worth more than a Hive Tyrant for BTS?  Why not round up as is the default practice in EPIC?
