Based on current G/W Economic trends, possibly in the future G/W will only support 40K & WHFB ... I could be wrong, but my former Eco-Profs may have taught me well ?  We'll see ... :glare:

Gamers in the UK you have only been able to get SG stuff from mail order and online for about two-three years and just last month it was decreed from opon high, by some unamed GW person that SG could not be played in stores in the hole London area!

So the wednesday SG night at my local store was canceled, which means i and most of the guys who play games (including WFB and 40K on thursdays and sundays) there are going to stop going to GW to play games, we may try to start a club, but in the centre of London (were the store is) to find a good place is almost impossible or very expencive.

The way GW has handled SG is all about what they make from it now, not what they could make in the future.

The only way i can see Epic getting the support i needs, like new models and rules, is FW were to take over development of it, they are the only people in the GW empire that can do games on a small scale(no pun intened) , things like Epic, and thanks to GW Epic is a small game with a small fan base, like all other SG.

And i think we, as Epic gamers are the only people who can make GW keep Epic alve, how to make GW do this i don't know

Sorry for the rant but this subject annoys me alot. :)

In general, when things are going well.. Games Workshop does lots of cool things because it can do whatever it wants and they are all gamers. When things are not going so well the stockholders start asking questions about unprofitable lines.

But isn't that "unprofitable" bit a little cart-before-the-horse?

Didn't the initial release of Epic:A smash their projected sales targets by a massive margin?  And that was with barely any support or advertising!  Even a page or two in WD or a BatRep would've done wonders.

It just seems so obvious to me to preach the "Have your army in more than one scale!" approach to BFG -> EPIC -> 40k that I can't understand why GW wouldn't run with it.

Well, if they cancel Epic, I think it?s because several higher ups suffer from severe delusions.  Like ?If we stop this game that uses little guys, then all the players will go and buy the more expensive bigger guys!?.  And ?If we put this box of Space Marines up another ?3, then everyone will gladly pay for them!?

Personally, I can?t see how Epic can be making a loss, seeing as the combined costs for the entire SG range are Andy Hall?s salary, a bit of server space and some set up time on the machines for the miniatures.

400% above maximum expectations.

Aye, it's currently my mission to psychically influence their rules writer to start playing Epic under 4th edition rules (He plays under 2nd ed. rules, and then only rarely). :D

I can't stress this enough, every time 'ya buy something from ForgeWorld, ask for Epic scale models.

Eventually they'll take notice.

Maybe. :D

Thankfully, the Memphis Bunker still has a stock of SG. We even have an E:A Rulebook in stick! I play Epic there every week, and the staff knows well just how postal I would go if there were no Epic stock at the store.  :D The store manager is also an Epic player, so he knows how cool the game is and is willing to keep it in stock.

Albeit SG has a total of 5 feet of wall space, and that encompasses Epic, BB, BFG, Mordhiem, Necromunda and Warmaster.

I routinely talk up Epic, and have a lot of 40k'ers stop at the table and look. I just helped a friend pick up some Epic last week. I have a lot of players that are "in stasis," they are waiting to build up their Epic Army before playing it.

It also helps one of the Epic Rules Committe plays at the Bunker. We even have our own 6mm scale table.

I also think that the failure of Fanatic contributed to stupid outlook of GW mangers.

I wrote a long and boring letter to Jervis on behalf of our group in the last week of 2006.

He hasn't replied to date. :(

Can you post it here?

(And, if it had the word "Epic" in it, GW spam filters might have blocked it...   )

That's why t'was in hardcopy format. You can't anti-spam a 1st-class envelope. :)

I'll post it here after I give JJ a few more day's grace to get a reply out (He claims to always answer hardcopy letters so I'll give him his due).

That's very odd, I have to say, especially since there is supposedly a nationwide, 4000 point, 2-day Epic tournament being planned for all the US Battlebunkers in April.

We've been discussing who is planning to go to Memphis for the Ides tournament in March and whether we wanted to go to Memphis for the April shindig or Atlanta.  Memphis is a lot closer but it already has a big following.  Atlanta would let us meet new folks and possibly drum up another reguler group.

I would get confirmation of the "supposedly" in stone before heading down there... *laugh*

It may just be a GW Canada thing as, rumour has it, they're really paring the Canadian operation down to the bone, at least warehouse/head office-wise.

well then it looks like there might be a difference between US and UK GW's opion on Epic because over here i don't think they would do a big nationwide event based around Epic or any SG.

i wish they would prove me wrong. :)

I heard Fanatic didnt fail... it out sold White Dwarf and that was a problem.  But yes... stick it to them when ever we can.  If GW sells the mini (GW/FW) you want buy it from them, if not and you buy from FW like E&C says tell FW what you want.
